Storage chests by chrono, with a gui that comes with it. Store up to 30 items and lots of gold! but beware of thieves! These chests save upon server shut down.
New server feature to register bricks with a custom cost. Storage chests require 120 gold to plant.

Torches, fire, explosions! Not only will cannons do brick damage, but they will have a chance of starting fires! Fires can spread, so lookout! Well bricks will be required to put the fires out. If you are in range of a well, you can use a hose to put out the fire. I suggest gathering coal now too, as it will be used to fuel torches that can be used to start fires as well!
Tip: Wooden islands. Build your town in the sea somewhere. Bricks underwater cannot be burnt, so building supports that connect to the sea help keep your home safe. You will also be able to spot and shoot at enemies slowed by water easier, and it limits their ability to sneak up.
