Author Topic: Clan[USSR] *new*  (Read 275428 times)

My idea:
Our own forums, invitation only. Not JUST [USSR] but other notables as well, and the aspiring, and those who contribute. No reason to exclude the best and greatest who are not clan affiliated!

Our own server, or group of servers: Only invited may build, but ANYBODY can spectate (But not on some servers).

I really dont want to exclude everybody, but I feel like I am back in BL0002 where a guy with a hammer was your worst enemy.

No applications. Those who get in, get in because they did not ask, did not bother, and did their best to be part of the sub community.

Lastly, REMOVAL OF CLANS IN THIS SOCIETY!! They cause nothing but problems... Once we are in, there is no need for clan tags... The only reason most wear them is for notoriety, which would be redundant in our servers.

What structure we would need:
A reporting system. White for applicants, and black for societal disgrace. Critical.
A system which always displays BLIDs with names.
A system which whitelists all members BLIDs to join with permissions- No passwords needed!
No purely central administration. Tribunal for issues.

I like a lot of those ideas, like only people on the boards would be able to build, however in the past USSR forums were terribly inactive so we opted to use these forums instead. Though if you had a system such as that ready, I'd be the first to want to beta test it.

This sounds interesting...

"Lastly, REMOVAL OF CLANS IN THIS SOCIETY!!"

LOL!

I like it, Wizzard. I should get on AIM more so we can talk about it.

My landlord is a loving idiot so I haven't (and still won't have) internet for three weeks.

FACE PUT ME ON THE loving MEMBER LIST YOU forget id like my name in red w/ the rest of thm pls

uh

In regards to wizzard's ideas, I like them a lot, particularly the spirit of it.  Particularly considering how half of us don't really build anymore, I think a lot of USSR is the people.  We'd just have to be careful to keep it about that, and rein in a system that could potentially become bureaucratic, insular, and ultimately somewhat destructive.  In other words, basically what you're suggesting could either end up really awesome or turn into a gigantic circlejerk.  We're already treading on shaky ground in regards to the latter scenario, and personally my creative engine runs on fresh blood, so as long as we can keep such a system free and open I'm all for it.

Oopth my baaad. I'll add you to the list.

USSR IS BREAKING OUT OF THE CAGE, RUN

Afkpuz has returned, huzzah!

Also Wizzard's points are probably the best I've heard yet. He incorporates what we used to need to put onto a clan forum, into a system that can be managed by the many rather than the few.

The heart of a true commie beats within him :D

If anyone can set this up that would be amazing.

We should talk to someone that can code their way out of a box.... that isn't an egomaniac.

I'm sure if my ideals appease the accepted masses, we could have quite a few.

I should have a router by the end of the week, and my server will be operational :-D Mmmmuahahaha

Should be more than ample for hosting a pair of kick-butt 20-man servers.

Remote access wont be a problem, either, when I get my new router. I'm now quite well versed in it.

I can do websites and such but not forums so I don't know if I could relaly be that much of a help that way.

Im supprised im still on the members list, after my very lenthy period away from Blockland, no thanks to Xbox or a Baby Sister.
