It's a bit different than the construction I originally intended. I'm not going to put the crane in for example, but I am working on a second story.

In this clan we learn about reliable hosts!

I finished the map. However, whenever the mission lights, the game crashes. I'm still trying to work out what the problem is.

Yeah, I can basically release what you see in that picture just fine. But as soon as I added a second floor to the model, it starts crashing the game. I'm going to try exporting it in Torque Constructor and see if it fixes anything, I doubt it will though. I don't really know what is causing the problem.

It got too tall and started going up above Blockland's height limits!

It seems that anything I export using my old save crashes now. I'll either have to find some way to export a non crashing version, release the map as it is without the second story, or start making a new building.

6 hours and 17 exports later I've got a working version! (and a big thanks to kaje for reminding me to update Torque Constructor)

Too bad I didn't finish in time for some testing (beyond driving the jeep down the stairs a few times :) ), I need to get to bed.

Anyway, plans for tomorrow's update are as follows:
o Buckets and 2x4s arranged to be used as ramps.
o change the second floor texture to a plywood type texture to break up the monotony of a single texture and keep you from straining your eyes when you look up at the rafters from the first floor.
o Add a lunchbox
o Model a road.
o Hide a few other surprises around the map.

I might take the various stages of completion you've seen posted in the thread and assemble a small neighborhood, but the map is already huge as it is. I imagine that the main building would be great for deathmatches, the whole time I was making it I kept thinking of the army men game on the N64.

Oh, right, screenshots.

Random fact: I brought a 8 foot 2x4 in from my garage and scanned it on my scanner to create the wood texture. It wasn't easy fitting it around my desk. It made lots of noise. My mom asked me what I was doing, and of course, I answered "nothing." :D

Looks great, you should put saw-horses somewere outside, a ladder with steps that can be built on going to the outside of the second story, and give the terrain a construction look (dirt, and possibly a trench coming from the road were wires would be layed in) and it will be a great map!

Also, can't wait to play army men in it!

I need someone to host a test server.

Don't bother building anything awesome in it because the interior will probably move by the final release and your build won't load.

Ok, well, I spent today fiddling with textures and got nothing done on my to-do list. Here are some updates:

Now the wood grain actually lines up with the beam! I also got rid of the dark splotches that made the ugly patterns across the 2x4s. Finally, I made the concrete texture bigger, so the repetition is less noticeable. I also had an opportunity to play a small DM with my brother. It was fun despite us getting stuck respawning at each other's bases because we have the same ID.

Now this floor is giving me trouble. The texture is different so looking up from the first floor doesn't hurt your eyes anymore trying to pick out the 2x6s from the floor.

Unfortunately, the texture is horrible. I've been trying different textures but to no success. I need something that is wooden, loops well, and has no knots or anything in it that will give away the fact that it tiles over the surface a hundred times. I don't want to just take my beam texture and make it a different color either.

I'm still looking for someone to test the map, I'll give you the current version. The beta release for USSR members probably won't be until next Monday or Tuesday.

Can you use a different texture size? try and find a large texture for the repeating ones.
