Author Topic: Downloading multiple source games at the same time?  (Read 571 times)

I'm redownloading all my games off of Steam (They're all source games)

I notice that after downloading the first game or two (zero to 100%), the rest of them start their downloads at say, 36% or 67% or whatever.

This has happened before and I didn't have an apparent problems with the games. All I'm wondering is if the games are using the content from one another, and if I should be downloading a certain set first.

Half Life 2 is the only game that should give other games content.

Well good. I downloaded that one before the others.

Most of the source games use common assets. There is no trick to the order you download them in if you actually plan to have them all installed anyway.

Regardless of how many you want downloading at once, it's still going to take the same time.
One file going at 2MB/s then after it's done another one going at 2MB/s is going to take the exact same time as both of them going at 1MB/s.
