they do die after 5 seconds.
And the bricks spawn fast enough for my liking.

This was going to be my suggestion. It'd be cool if you use a bike rod to drive the vehicles. There could be a Light Cycle playertype that you change to when activating the rod. But also have spawns for racing and none tron stuff.
