yeah, he could release it now
and then it'd end up like minecraft

forever in development, forever containing a multitude of bugs, and never finished

is the connection you made there because he'd be dealing with requests by people too much or just because of payed alpha/beta testing

because if it's the latter, that'd be a non-sequitur.

i agree it's not a bad idea to develop the game sufficiently before beginning to sell it though

well
he should at least give it to some of his well-known friends so they can make videos for him.
and even if it does release later, it could still end up like a game constantly in development, because this game has a lot of places where stuff could be added.

payed alpha/beta is bad because the game never becomes a finished product with few bugs, good polish, an overall good feel
it's just perpetually buggy and between updates

if you want to add content, fine, add it. do free DLC or paid DLC or idgaf. just don't do the perpetual development model that minecraft has. (mmo's/anything with a subscription model are a different case ofc)

wowe this is probably some dumb minecraft ri-

how is there a direct connection?

that's really the developers' fault for being bad at making their product, it doesn't really have anything to do with the fact they had a paid alpha/beta.

not a direct effect at least. if anything it's an extremely indirect non-guaranteed effect and still is the fault of the developers.

this is a legitimate argument

it's really a preference of how you want to go about developing the game

lots of games add content through updates so people don't have to be bothered with individual packages to get content

other games may not because they want to organise their content in a different way

just don't do the perpetual development model that minecraft has.
i don't see anything wrong with a game that is constantly being updated with new content.

alright, so i shouldn't use the word "constantly" then.

if you're still giving a nudge at what's recently been happening with minecraft, i completely agree with what you've said. however, minecraft also made a promise to update every week, which i think was a terrible idea and causes a lot of those problems you mentioned.

with a game like this, i'm sure that once wollay releases it, everyone will have some good ideas for new content. i doubt wollay would be so cruel as to release the game and then give up on adding anything new to it, so i figure he would probably take a suggestion or two, test all the bugs out of it, and then add it to the official release whenever. even if that span of time is several months.

I remember seeing this awhile ago. Glad to see it didn't die.

I instantly thought of these

Ontopic: I had seen this game before, looks like it's improved over time. Nice.
