No, you just lack the ability to see reason.

except the price is the death of a forgetton of innocent civilians. that's not a worthy price at all
would you rather have millions of soldiers die and have a longer war, and have you potentially not be born, or would you rather kill a couple thousand civilians?

I'd choose the latter.

It was around 250,000 civilians. We were beating them anyways, there was no need to drop them.

ITT: stuntman101 being a dumbass

it was intentional killing of innocent civilians
i don't care if japan personally raped and killed the moms of every us citizen, there is NO justification for knowingly partaking in actions that will 100% be guaranteed to kill innocent civilians that have nothing to do with the war
...
...
Ohgod ohgod I can't breath! someone help

I agree with stuntman

The nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were acts of terrorism. The US did not aim for military targets. They just wanted to "scare the stuff out of Japan" Hundreds of thousands of civilians were either killed or mutilated. The civilians suffered from the after-effects of the radiations for generations.

The use of weapons of mass destruction violated the Hague convention of 1907, specifically these two articles:
Quote
Article 25 of Section IV

- "The attack or bombardment, by whatever means, of towns, villages, dwellings, or buildings which are undefended is prohibited."

Article 27 of Section IV

- "In sieges and bombardments all necessary steps must be taken to spare, as far as possible, buildings dedicated to religion, art, science, or charitable purposes, historic monuments, hospitals, and places where the sick and wounded are collected, provided they are not being used at the time for military purposes."

The bombings also violated the Fourth Geneva Convention. It was not adopted untill 1949, but it justifies that this was in fact terrorism, seen from a modern perspective.

Quote
Article 33. No protected person may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited.
Pillage is prohibited.
Reprisals against protected persons and their property are prohibited.

Saying that dropping TWO nuclear bombs on Japan was necessary to win the war is complete nonsense. At the time being, the US was far superior to Japan. If american bombers would have continued bombing military targets with conventional bombs, the war would've been over within a few weeks.

...

That being said, this wasn't the only time the US was involved in what would be called terrorism during WW2.
The carpet bombing of Dresden, Hamburg and Pforzheim with incendiary bombs caused devastating firestorms which destroyed almost everything. The whole cities were litterally burning. Civilian casualties were 25.000, 50.000 and 18.000 respectively.
Those bombings were done by the RAF and the USAAF in no more than 3 days in a row. For comparison, the "Blitz" over London killed no more than 40.000 civilians in more than half a year!!

Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle

basically this thing gets launched into orbit and headbutts nuclear warheads

Anyways, FEATS.

Also, Leo, you seem to be thinking wrong here.
The 4th Geneva convention did not exist at the time of WW2. So, let's ignore it for now.
Article 25: The areas were not undefended. they undoubtedly had enemy soldiers, tanks, and/or fortifications in place in order to deter any allied attacks. However, they obviously weren't enough to keep the allies at bay.
Article 27: If any effort was made to purposely destroy a non-military building, it would be at the hands of a renegade soldier who has his own agenda. If his actions were discovered, he would surely face a court-martial. In other cases, wind gusts could've blown bombs off course into non-military targets.
So, the only logical things to blame are bad soldiers and mother nature.
About the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Japan, the reason they wanted to scare the stuff out of Japan is because the only other option would be to invade Japan, which Harry Truman estimated would have cost both sides up to 4 times the number of casualties.

te best tank to ever go to war god bless america

They could sort of you know have detonated the nuke above Japan and just say 'Stop or we blow you up with another one of that stuff'.

I don't think they were able to do it until the mid 50s...when Russia did it, it knocked out a satellite for a while.

Blowing up experimental weapons that haven't been tested yet that could potentially unleash a huge, neverending chain reaction with every bit of matter on earth annihilating everything (According to Einstein) is a loving handicapped thing anyways.

We did detonate a nuke above Japan. Above Hiroshima.
They didn't stop even when we did nuke one of their cities and we had to nuke another. What makes you think that blowing it up somewhere else would have got Japan to back down?

Nevermind if they did then in that case Japanese are just stupid stubborn idiots.
Also I just realised I hate Japan and the mindforget it's everything causes me.
