Stojanow creates a perfect distraction by firing at the mech's head. It buys you enough time to roll free and ready your weapon- a heavy duty CRCD system rifle, which Xeron assured you would be enough to penetrate DCB's armor.
You back up a bit and take aim on the mech.

You score a perfect hit on DCB's helmet, easily breaking the visor. It seems she can function just fine without said visor though, but there's something else strange about it.
There doesn't seem to be anyone controlling it.
Either DCB
is the mech, or it's capable of controlling itself. You decide you might as well destroy the empty armor, which would give you an advantage later on if it is able to control itself.

The mech focuses back on you and fires a few shots, but you manage to dodge each of them.

Stojanow manages a decent shot on the mech's chest. It's rewarded by sparks and there's a strange screaming sound. It seems like Stojanow might've hit the thing's power unit or something.
The mech collapses to the ground as a dark red fluid seeps through the sand. Your danger monitor skyrockets, and you quickly back away from it. Stojanow and Navaro are already a safe distance away from it, though.
"What the hell is that?" Navaro asks, but you almost feel like it's nearer to a demand.
"I don't know, but whatever it is, it certainly isn't blood," you reply.
