wait holy forget page 50 what is this sorcery

Stojanow shrugs and gives you a generic "Well done." It seems he's busy thinking about something else.

bump, what are we doing?

Have Stojanow do the exercise, then Navaro, then Lia.

"We've already completed the training," Lia grins cheerfully.

"Impressive to have completed it so fast," you comment quietly.

Stojanow turns away from the viewing window. "Lia was the first to complete it; you and I took longer because we thought it all through. Granted, you took longer than I did, but that was because they fired at you in the middle of your shift." He hesitates for a moment. "Amongst other things."

"What's that supposed to mean"

"What do you mean by 'other things'?" you ask.

Stojanow shrugs. "Like when you accidentally fell in that split in the rocks and almost passed up the opportunity it gave you."

"Opportunity for what?"

"Enough time to shift into your stealth suit. It took you a while to realize it was the perfect hiding spot."

He has a point.
Learn from experience.
Go like, I dunno, run through a group exercise this time
Flanked by 10 armed soldiers, each side, reinforcements closing in
(For them, not you.)

wowe stojanow is so unloved

You ask for another training scenario, this time for all four of you. You give the operators a description and head down to the training room again, this time followed by your party.

You wait for a few seconds in the training room floor as the operators set up the terrain. It's amazing, really, the way the custom rooms work. You wish you had the time to spend more hours here in the custom rooms.

You're torn from your thoughts as the familiar sound of the terrain generator starts up. It's a rather loud whirring sound, lasting the entire time of the terrain generation. Around you, trees and rocks take form. You can already tell that it's going to be a forest-like area, similar to the one you were used to back on the unnamed planet.

Looking up at the sky, you see the operator's face being projected. "The current scenario is as follows," he begins, "You are currently in a heavily forested area. Your landmate for is not an option. There are 10 armed soldiers on each side with plenty of reinforcements closing in for them. Good luck."

Well, that doesn't sound too bad. Within seconds, you hear the first steps of the soldiers. What will you do?

To the trees, get a nice view of the area.
Your team sets up in strategic points, allowing for the largest amount of control over what shall proceed.
Attempt to get a highly maneuverable place, which also provides cover, IE the treetops.
Stealth suit.

You shift into your stealth suit, and your party copies. You manage to see Navaro and Lia's stealth suits before they're up into the trees; it seems that Stojanow had already taken off.

Not wanting to waste any time, you quickly pull yourself up into one of the trees just moments before the human soldiers arrive. They look around, clearly confused.

"Where the hell did they go?" demands a particularly well-armored soldier with a fancy hat; you assume he's the leader of the group. He eyes his men silently, and when he doesn't receive an answer, he makes an order. "Well then, I'll expect you all to find them! Search the trees if you have to!" He stands in the middle of the clearing, watching his men spread out into pairs as they search for you and your party.

There's a quiet rustling next to you, and you look over to see what it is. At first you're thinking that one of the soldiers found your tree, but you're relieved to see Stojanow's tall, slender form next to you. You let out a small sigh of relief and look back down at the clearing.

"How long do you think it'll take them to find us?" he whispers quietly.

You give a small shrug. "Doesn't matter; we could probably take them out now if we really wanted."

You see a small frown behind Stojanow's dark orange visor. "It's 10-to-4, you know. Are you really sure we'll be able to take them out?"

You hear him lean back on the trunk of the tree, something he does often. Well, not leaning on trees, but leaning on any nearby wall, table, and so on. "Well, there's no guarantee we'd take them out quickly and quietly," you begin slowly, "but we might be able to get them before reinforcements arrive."

Stojanow lets out a small sigh. "When they do arrive, they'll know something's up," he objects, leaning forward again. The two of you are practically shoulder-to-shoulder now. "Besides that, there's no telling how far the reinforcements are."

You shift uncomfortably as you think this over. "Well, better kill ten now rather than have fifteen or more to deal with later."

Stojanow doesn't object as you quietly ready your weapon. He does the same, and it's him that fires the first shot.

>STOJANOW TARGET: CAPTAIN
>ROLL RESULT: 4

Stojanow fires a near-perfect shot into the captain's head. He's dead on the ground before he even knows what hit him. The soldiers are quick to his aid as they run into the clearing.

Glancing up, you spot Navaro's sky-blue visor glint in the dappled light. He tilts his head slightly as if to ask what's happening, and you load your gun in response.

The primary options seem to be either getting out of the trees or keeping it to a fight of snipers. What will you do?

Fight of snipers, move in a certain trajectory when they see you, then make some sort of diversion, to make them think you're still moving in that direction, like with a stick or something. When you can, aim for the snipers who are good shots, or people who can spray and pray.

You send a text transmission to Navaro and Lia, telling them to set up a sort of diversion that would make the soldiers believe you're still moving. They give a nod and set to work.

In the meantime, Stojanow seems to have taken out two more of the soldiers, and you decide you might as well help out.

>CRCD TARGET: SOLDIER
>ROLL RESULT: 2

You fire off a shot at one of the soldiers, but you only manage to hit the ground next to him. He jumps in surprise and begins firing randomly into the trees. You're forced to activate your arm's shield, and you hold it up in front of you and Stojanow.

Well, perhaps you would have been better off without the shield, you think as the bullets pelt the metallic surface. Surprisingly, though, they hardly make a sound. Impressive.

>STOJANOW TARGET: SOLDIER
>ROLL RESULT: 4

Stojanow fires another shot into the head of the soldier that was spraying the area with bullets. The soldier hits the ground, his gun still firing.

Well, Stojanow managed to kill four soldiers, the last one creating a huge hazard to his team mates. It's almost funny, really, watching them run for cover to wait until the gun runs out of ammo. What now?
