never mind, use cryonnium rounds and hit the thing in the back. hopefully its like a l4d tank and turns around.
"Stojanow, I'm going to have to shoot you. Well, not actually shooting you, but try not to move," you say as you take aim. If you manage to miss this thing, you could seriously injure Stojanow. You just hope the beast stays still long enough for you to get a good shot.
>AXIOMETRA TARGET: UNNAMED CREATURE
>ROLL RESULT: 1
The creature seems to have noticed you taking aim and it leaps at the last second. Stojanow doesn't even get the chance to move before the words "AVTS-V4 HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE TRAINING SIMULATION" are scrolling across your visor. Well, if this were real, he'd more than likely be dead.
The beast turns it's attention to Lia, who quickly switches to landmate form and nimbly dodges the creature's attacks. She leaps into the air and takes aim.
>LIA TARGET: UNNAMED CREATURE
>ROLL RESULT: 5
Lia fires off a few rounds of her non-cryonnium lasers, and all of them score a solid hit on the creature's back. It gives another screech and lunges again, but gets intercepted by Navaro.
>NAVARO TARGET: UNNAMED CREATURE
>ROLL RESULT 1: 5
>ROLL RESULT 2: 5
Navaro expertly slashes at the creature before it has a chance to defend itself. It screeches, it's mouth spraying something similar to blood, as it collapses to the ground. The ground is soon soaked with the blood coming from two fatal gashes in it's abdomen.
Navaro steps back a bit, sheathing his landmate's katanas. Perhaps it wasn't too bad of an idea to keep them, but you can't help but feel that Deceb added something to the blades. Energy swords, perhaps?
The words "MISSION COMPLETE" pop up on your HUD, followed by a bunch of mission statistics. You look around as the simulated terrain crumbles into nothingness, thankfully taking Stojanow's "dead" body with it.
He isn't really dead, of course. There isn't really a way to get actually hurt in the training missions unless you're a master at getting hurt. It's impressive all the things that go into the training simulators, really.
You turn towards the door on the far side of the training room, almost certain the Stojanow will be on the other side. You're almost dreading seeing him after you made that terrible shot. You can hear Lia talking to Navaro, her words echoing off the high metal walls.
"Hey, you're pretty good with those swords," she comments cheerfully.
"What do you expect? I've been using dual katanas all my life," he replies, followed by the same muttering you often heard back on the unnamed planet. It almost makes you smile, he hadn't done it in a long time.
The large doors open automatically, and sure enough, Stojanow is waiting on the other side. He has his arms folded, leaning up against the wall. Thankfully, he doesn't look angry at you- but then again, when has he? In all the time you've known him, you've never seen Stojanow mad at anything. He has a remarkable ability to stay perfectly calm in all situations.
Actually, come to think of it, he didn't even look scared when that creature attacked him, or when his life- albeit synthetic- was in your hands. And you had failed.
"Hey, sorry about what hap-"
"You don't need to apologize," Stojanow cuts you off as he stops leaning on the wall. "You always have been a bad shot," he adds with a grin.
You can't help but smile back as you remember the hard time you had back when you first met him. You could hardly hit anything. "Yeah, I suppose so."
What now?
