Author Topic: [SEMI-50x40] TRILOS IV - SPACE? YOU TELL ME [ACT 1]  (Read 45307 times)

You look back at the computer, switching it to the station overview, in hopes of finding the medical bay. It's then that you realize: the ship doesn't have a medical bay. After all, it's run completely by robots. Well, it wasn't completely until you killed the commander, but now it is.

That leaves you with only two options: kill him or take him with you.

take him, he's literally blind and shouldn't do anything bad

I have a bad feeling about this.

Just leave him there. Stalk out of the room silently.

Dress him up in the commander's clothes and take him with you
if anyone sees you act like he's a hostage

I guess you could try ripping the commander apart so you can cover the bot in his skin but ehh

I guess you could try ripping the commander apart so you can cover the bot in his skin but ehh
...you'd honestly rather not dissect the commander and use his skin as cover.

You figure it would be okay to let the other bot tag along for a bit. If he gets killed then that's his problem. Except he won't be able to take care of that problem because he'd be too busy being dead. But that aside, he's blind- what harm could he do?

You think about giving him the commander's clothes. He had a nice uniform with all kinds of shiny badges and medals on it, but you just don't feel it's right to take it- even though he was the enemy.

"Alright, come with me," you tell the frightened bot, grabbing onto his arm.

"Where are we going?" the bot asks, jumping back a bit. "Are you taking me to the medical wing?"

"No. Just keep quiet and you'll be fine," you reply, opening the door and leading the way. You've memorized the way to the KPF. Now you can only hope you don't encounter much trouble.

"We're going to the cloning facility, aren't we?" the bot whispers when you finally arrive at the massive door labeled 'KKRYONITTE SYSTEM CENTER'.

"...You could say that," you respond as you unlock the doors. They open almost silently, letting you and your injured companion inside.

In front of you is a room with benches and lockers. A quick scan reveals that they're filled with protective suits. The other bot looks around as if he knows the place.

"This is the system center. Why are we here?" he asks.

"I can't really tell you why," you sigh as you walk up to the door leading into the KPF.

"...oh, I understand. Are you taking me to the recycling facility? To put my blood back into the reserves?"

You look over your shoulder at him. "...What?"

"They put all the salvageable- though dead- robots in the recycling facility to reuse the Kkryonitte in them. They said that was where I would go if they couldn't repair me," he explains. "They were going to put me in a sort of PDA because of my mental problems, but I escaped and woke up all the military robots. I tried to get out of there but someone hit me in the face with something hard and now my optics are ruined. Then all this happened and-" he sits down on one of the benches, looking dizzy. "I probably shouldn't be telling you all of this, I can't even see you to know if you're on our side! For all I know you could be one of those Triloslynne robots that we're supposed to be hunting."

Well, this is quite surprising. "A PDA?" you ask.

"Yeah, they said that's what they do with all the mentally defective robots. Something about entertainment. They told me I would've been the second one to have the procedure preformed on."

You aren't exactly sure if you should tell him that you were the first one to be put on a PDA. It might make him trust you a bit more, though.

Tell him you're willing to save him and fix his optics as long as he cooperates
Although I'm not sure we will dispose of him seeing as he has info

Wtf? He knew its the systems center by "looking around" although his optics are shot to hell.

Push him up against a wall and ask what the forget is up.

You grab the other bot and hold him up against the lockers. The metal-on-metal bang echoes through the large locker room.

"H-hey! What are you doing?!" the bots shouts in alarm.

"How do you know where we are?" you demand.

The bot struggles weakly against your hold. "M-my senses became sharper after I lost my sight- I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Please don't hurt me!"

You let him go and he sinks to the floor, putting his hands over his head in fear. "I'll take you and fix your optics as long as you cooperate," you tell him. "Get up, we're heading in now."

The other bot gets up unsteadily as you open the doors. In front of you lay rows upon rows of tall cubes, all filled with surprisingly clear Kkryonitte. There are pipes reaching out of most of them, all shooting up to the ceiling to merge into a mass of cables and piping. There are large industrial lights suspended from the ceiling on heavy duty cords. You spot a mess of catwalks up above with the occasional crane.

You hear the sound of running coming towards you. At first you think it's Shy'ryx troops, but then you remember that they're all on 'break.'

"Bot! You actually made it," you hear Ciricad call as she come into view. She stops dead in her tracks as she spots your companion. "...He's in worse shape than I thought," she says quietly, her words barely audible.

"Well, he can't see and he's got a few dizzy spells," you sigh. "And he has acute senses," you add harshly.

Lia rounds a corner, followed closely by Navaro. "Ouch, he's in bad shape," she comments. "Though we'll probably be able to take care of him back at the TMS Station."

"Oh, thank go-" the other bot stops suddenly, trying to grab his weapon. "You're those Triloslynne robots?"

You quickly grab his rifle and pull it off of his back, sending him tumbling forwards.

"I thought I could trust you!" he cries, trying to get up. "You told me you'd help me!"

Navaro steps up suddenly, holding one of his katanas to the robot's face. The little machine seems to sense it and immediately stops moving. "Shut up and maybe we'll consider fixing your head. Of course, I wouldn't mind killing you right here, one of you is enough."

"Hey, watch it," you mutter.

"Both of you," Stojanow steps in. "We have more important things to do than arguing."

"Stojanow's right. You can save the bickering for when we get back to the station," Ciricad says, folding her arms. "Bot, I trust you know the way to the KPF's main computer?"

"I have a rough idea, yeah. It wasn't exactly on the map."

After a bit of walking along the surprisingly creepy aisles of Kkryonitte, you arrive at what looks like a silo. Sort of odd to have the main control unit here, you think. It reaches up all the way to the ceiling- and probably beyond. After all, the KPF is only part of the System Center.

"Hey, who are you guys?" you hear a voice yell, followed by the sound of several metal boots running.

"Oh joy, soldiers," Navaro remarks, drawing his other katana.

You turn around and see a group of nine Shy'ryx troops in front of you, all holding their weapons at the ready.

"Drop your weapons or we will fire!" they order, aiming at you and your team mates.

"You'd shoot them anyways, wouldn't you?"

The soldiers turn around and find Deceb Zetra in front of them, her arms folded. She looks rather intimidating with her armor on, actually- but the soldiers don't seem to understand what's under it.

"And who would you be?" they demand.

"Oh, no one that you'll remember."

In a few seconds, half of the enemy squad is down and the rest have scattered in hopes of escaping from the armored demon pursuing them.

"She's seriously overpowered," Navaro mutters.

"What do you expect?" Ciricad rolls her eyes. "She'll keep them busy lo-"

"-kill them before you can even open the doors?" Navaro cuts in.

Ciricad looks at him sharply. "I suppose," she replies as she turns and examines the door's locking system. "Hey Bot, did you pick up any keycards?"

"Yeah, the Commander had a few," you answer, taking them off of your belt and handing them to her. There's a loud crashing sound followed by groaning of metal somewhere in the KPF, but it isn't near any of you.

After a bit of distant screaming and fighting, Ciricad finally manages to get the System Center's doors open. Inside is a rather large computer system (actually, more like computer systems)- well, that isn't surprising really. After all, this IS the System Center.

"So. Where do we start?" Lia asks, looking around the room.

plant explosives EVERYWHERE then escape the hell out of there.

also first go get the commanders computer it probably has some pretty good data, and now that he's dead there's nobody to worry about missing the computer.

"I'm not sure," Ciricad replies to Lia.

"We could, like, plant explosives everywhere," she suggests.

"Do we even have explosives?" Stojanow asks, examining one of the computers.

"Sure," you say. "We can just combine the Kkryonitte and Cryonnium. I mean, it makes a big explosion when you mix them, right?"

Ciricad stares at you. "That means someone will have to stay behind to put them all together."

Everyone stops and looks at each other. It's clear that no one is really willing to volunteer for it, as there's zero chance of survival- or recovery. And if they can't be recovered, that mean they'll have to be completely rebuilt.

The door slides open and Deceb walks in. She seems a little surprised by the heavy silence. "What's going on in here?"

"...We don't exactly have... adequate explosives to blow this place up," Stojanow explains. "And in order to make that S-Virus st-"

"-which will make a rather large explosion when created? And you have to leave someone behind to do it?" Deceb finishes, folding her arms.

"...Yeah," Stojanow sighs.

"Oh, well I'll do it," Deceb shrugs. Everyone stares at her in disbelief. "Well, it's better than voting on who'll do it. Besides, we don't exactly have the luxury of time."

"...Are you sure about this...?" Ciricad asks. "I mean, we won't be able to recover you, and it'll take several months for your new body- if we can even find one- to become fully mechanical again."

"Look, I may be clouded by the Kkryonitte infection, but if I'm rebuilt, I can go back to being normal again," Deceb replies.

Everyone is silent again. "...Alright," Ciricad finally agrees. "Good luck."

"You've got ten minutes to get off this station before it blows. Get moving," Deceb orders.

You grab the blind bot and half drag him as the team starts running. In a minute or two you've made it out of the KPF.

"I need to go grab something before we go," you tell Ciricad.

"You've got seven minutes," she replies and keep running.

Five minutes.

You've managed to get back to the commander's room. You figure you've got two minutes to spend in here, and you plan on getting out before then. You're downloading what you can off of the commander's computer. You had considered destroying it afterwords, but the explosion will take care of that.

Four minutes.

You finish downloading and call your last farewell to the one who put you on a PDA. Not that he'll be able to hear you: he's dead and you're already a good ways away from his corpse. Walking soldiers look at you in surprise, probably wondering what you're in a hurry about. It's such a shame they don't know what's about to happen to them. At least their death will be relatively painless.

Three minutes.

You can see the hangar doors up ahead, and the guard standing in front of them looks at you in surprise. "What are you in a hurry about?" he asks as he opens the door.

"I'm going to miss my flight if I don't rush," you reply as you run inside.

The hangar is surprisingly empty. You look around for the ship that your party is going to be taking back, and spot it a few yards away.  You rush over to it and climb inside as the doors shut behind you.

Two minutes.

"Glad you could make it," Navaro says as he leans back in one of the chairs. "Lia, it looks like we're set to launch. Open the doors however you want."

"They'll open on their own," she replies, and they do.

The small ship takes off through the open hangar doors, quickly leaving the station behind it.

"Do you think we'll see the explosion?" you ask, watching the station.

"I don't know," Lia replies. "We'll be pretty far away when Deceb blows it up."

"I see," you murmur.

Thirty seconds.

"We're approaching that one planet where we met that Kkryagnus thing," Lia reports. "Anyone remember what it's called?"

"I certainly do-" Ciricad stops suddenly as something catches her eye. Everyone else notices it, too.

"Was that the station...?" Stojanow asks quietly.

"I think so," Ciricad replies.

Far in the distance- very far, actually- is a brilliant purple colored explosion where the station once was. It's rapidly expanding and changing.

"It's a lot bigger than I expected," Navaro muses.

Lia nods a bit. "Setting warp course for TMS Station now."

After a few moments, the explosion is gone and you find yourself back at the station.

"This is standby team Alyr, asking permission to land," Lia says over the comms.

"Permission granted. Welcome back."

The doors to the station's hangar open and Lia brings the ship in for a gentle landing.  The ship's doors open shortly after the hangar doors shut, and you're the first to step out. There's a medical team headed your way.

"Is anyone injured?" one of them asks.

"Just one," you answer as Lia guides the injured robot out of the ship.

The medical team rushes over to him and examines him. You don't hear anything they're saying; you're already out of the hangar.

You're standing in the observation deck, the same place you stood before the mission began. You hear Navaro coming behind you, and you give him a slight nod as he leans on the rail next to you.

"She's dead, isn't she?" he asks quietly.

"I'd be surprised if she survived it," you reply.

"So we're going to rebuild her?"

"Well, of course. I believe it's the main reason she was so willing to sacrifice herself back there," you sigh.

Navaro nods slowly. Then, after a long moment of silence, "Do you think they're still out there?"

"Who are?"

"The Triloslynnes. Maybe they're just in stasis somewhere. They couldn't have all been killed in the wars, right?"

"It's possible," says Stojanow suddenly. You didn't even see him next to you. "But it'll take a great deal of searching if we have any hope of finding them."

You nod slowly. "Perhaps they are still out there. And if they are, we'll find them eventually."

Navaro stands up and glances over at you. "They said they've finished repairing Bot's friend," he tell you. "You should come take a look."

"Are they twins?" you ask as you follow him out.

Navaro smiles a bit. "You could say that."
