Author Topic: How can I set up a css listen server?  (Read 1358 times)

When I try to start a server normally through the main menu, it is a LAN game to the other player. I'm not sure how i would set it up to be a normal server. I'm using Hamachi.

There's your problem.
Just forward your ports instead.

Except if I forwarded my ports, the game that I host from "Start a game" would still be LAN

Type in the console sv_lan 1, then restart the server.

Shouldn't sv_lan be 0 if you want it to be a listen server?

haha no it wouldn't
anyone on your network would receive it as a lan game because they're on your network
anyone outside of your network wouldn't

Same thing happens to me, KoopaScooper you dont understand what hes saying or your just stupid.
You set SV_Lan to 0 with "Sv_Lan 0"
You check it to see what it is, it says 0
start a game
check it
it says sv_lan 1

start server
open console
sv_lan 0
map whatevermapyouwant
done.

and this is from someone that hosts listen servers on css.

Make sure you forward port 27015, it's the standard port for hosting Source games.

Also once your portfoward download Source Multiplayer Dedicated Server.

Ok, I set it to sv_lan 0 and restarted it and it worked. I got mega bear to join and we played on mg_smash_cannonsz which was a lot of fun.
This might be a regular thing for me.
