Author Topic: Cleaning Xbox 360 S Vents and Fan?  (Read 5649 times)

I have an Xbox 360 S, not the glossy one, so I'm not worried about cleaning that. With the console laid down horizontal, the top and side vents all have dust in them, so I can't simply wipe it off with my hand. The fan is probably dusty too, but I don't want to blow into the vents since the dust may get inside and screw something out.

Is there any way I can safely dust out the vents on the Xbox 360 S?

Thats definitely a tricky situation. I would use pressurized are but that could possible blow dust INTO the system.
Dunno
I have the same Xbox and I have one of the Nykon fans or whatever so no dust enters my Xbox at all.

Q-tip? I dunno if that would work very well though... I wouldn't reccomend compressed air, it reduced the life of your console, I've lost at least 2 that way.

i think take the panel off and wipe it out

use fireworks

Already tried, didn't work.

One of the vents is removeable, the one where the HDD goes. But then that leaves the other vent, and the vent above the fan.

I'll try that.

Use a good wet-dry vac to clean it out. That's what I use on my consoles and computers to suck and blow dust away.

Removing panels of it voids the warranty, and I'm sure they're nitpicky about tampering checking.

if he still has an old Xbox, chances are the warranty is already over

I think my warranty is already over, and the panel I'm talking about is supposed to be removed so you can insert the HDD.

my bro  has the very same xbox you do and i spilled some pop (soda) right in the vent on accident and it still works,
ill think youll be fine bro

The HDD should lock into the top. The new ones shouldn't be too old. And besides that, you can reinstate the warranty.

canned air should be fine.  dust isnt going to short-circuit anything, its not conductive.  just take it outside and blow it out until no dust comes out
