Author Topic: 64-Bit Blockland  (Read 1815 times)

I'm tired of being limitted to just 32 bit when I have a 64 bit machine.  If we had 64 bit support, we could get player counts far above 99.

Anyways, I doubt Baldspot ever reads these things, but maybe there's hope.

This will never happen unless it's done by the community, which would violate Blockland's license anyway. In any case, we can get player counts above 99 without crashing, record is somewhere around 128 (2012 party).

Badspot said something about looking into 64-bit support.

It's not just player count that affects it. It also includes number of objects that are ghosted to each player.

Blockland doesnt support 64bit? What Da F....? It runs so great, I thought it supported 64bit.

It runs fairly well, but no, it doesn't have 64-bit support.

Badspot said it wouldn't be a bad idea at one point, so in the future he may do it.

Don't know, but I'd like to have this.

We might have to remind him about it.

The main reason I want it is because - as Kalphiter pointed out - because of the 32 bit memory limit Blockland has we can only have 99 players.  32 bit can allocate up to 4 GB of ram.  64 bit can allocate up to 192 GB of ram.  That could mean servers with 4752 players are possible (excluding calculations like network speed and things.)

Of course, you'd need internet forged by the hand of God.

Untrue.
We can have more.
But we can't even have 99.

I'm sure if you had 200k objects ghosted to about 80 players you would reach the limit.

Can't you just decrease the ghost limit per player?

This topic deserves more than one page of comments.

Then they wont see half the stuff... lol

Well Kalph did it on his new years thing because it was like, 1 room.

I can see it being useful for things like that.

64 - bit Blockland...

Would it be able to have a higher vehicle limit?
And add-on limit?
