Author Topic: Planning on jailbreaking my iPod touch.  (Read 1525 times)

I've been planning on jailbreaking my iPod for a while now, but I still don't know if I should.
Pros and Cons of jailbreaking:

Pros
-Tons of themes to choose from.
-Tons of FREE STUFF
-Legal (Jailbreaking is legal, but I'm not sure about all the free stuff thing)
-VERY SLIM chance of getting your device bricked.
-Any other things I missed that you know of (list in comments)

Cons
-Cannot restore to default settings once you have jailbreaked it.
-Somewhat illegal
-Possibility of getting a bricked device. This means your iPod is completely useless, and you can do nothing with it.
-If it gets messed up you cannot send it to Apple. They will either throw it out or send it back.
-Any other things I missed that you know of (list in comments)

Should I do it or not?

Do it. Break free from the manacles of Apple and embrace the light!

apparently jailbreaking makes it run slower.
In any case, I don't think it's really worth it.

Torn between the two. ;-;

Do you need it for something? It's mainly done to customize your iPod/iPhone the way you want. Example: getting rid of regular lockscreen and putting an htc lockscreen. Stuff like that.

I wouldn't do it. It's bad.

It is completely legal to jailbreak it. You'll only brick it if you don't follow instructions. Jailbreaking allows for homebrew and further customization that Apple confines with their generic iOS and whatnot. It's useful for various things, outside of the illegal activities you could do with a jailbroken ipod.

If you're after such things, it's worth it. Otherwise, I don't see what point you would have for it. If I had one, I'd do it.

From what I understand, no it doesn't. Using programs that were not designed to run with the Ipod, such as multi-tasking programs/apps, perhaps.

I'd attempt on my old iPod Touch. :/

I know it is, but I just don't want to mess it up and be screwed
but i'll prob do it ^^ lol

It's really easy. I thought he same thing the time I did it.

Isn't jailbreaking a form of piracy?

nah,
you can also restore to factory and un jailbreak by the way, just restore old firmware.

I bounce between jailbroken and not all the time on my iPhone, uses more battery though ,-,
