exactly. blockland is where you can build anything however you want. not have your build dumped on

this should be locked immediately
True, though, 1x1 spam and 1x1x5 spam should be discouraged no matter how you put it.

Depending on the theme of the build, striped walls are an option.  They shouldn't be completely thrown out as a bad building idea.

I can agree with you on a lot of things. And now imagine when they decide to call these features "Euro-style", gosh that makes me cringe.

this.

I admit the carpet part is an issue.  Who wants to look at an ugly grey-brown on their floor?

I also hate "the huge loving box with exactly 1 detailed wall" type of builds. Especially when they want to pass it off as an old building. Old buildings had complex shapes because the lighting and ventilating could not be done otherwise as air conditioning was not available.

random assortment of windows - they make no sense, look bad, and obscure view

My nr 1 hate.

Can I laugh now?

"If anyone puts effort into detailing a lego build, then they immediately piss me off"

That's all I got from this.  Especially since the Ballroom uses that wall texture.

You don't get the topic then. It's not about the hate for detailing, it's about detailing wrong. You don't detail for the sake of detailing, you do it because you want to emphasize bits on the build or break up the monotony on larger surfaces. The problem is, most people try to cram all these into tiny 16x16 builds and suddenly think they are master builders or something. Some of the features (if done right) look good on a certain scale, but you have to know what you are doing and most people don't.

Think of detailing as the icing on the cake, not the cake itself.

Its my Ballroom..btw. And if you think that its ugly then that's great. I think its nice.
A ballroom is normally "over decorated" as to show higher class. The fact you think its done "wrong" makes me question what you think a build like that is for.
