Author Topic: Your Thoughts on Anthropomorphic animals? (intelligent discussion)  (Read 20965 times)

There's really no reason to "come out" for just an interest/hobby, it makes just as little sense as "coming out" about liking anime. It's not like being gay - I've talked to a few of my friends who are gay, and they say that dating someone who hasn't came out to their parents really sucks because you have to lie to them and say you're just a friend.
Liking cartoon animals isn't something that sucks if people don't know about.

The only reason I'd tell my parents is if I do something that makes them ask "why"; they've already seen some of my desktop backgrounds, and a fox pendant that I got, and didn't say anything about those, so the only things I can think of that would really make them ask are going to a convention (unlikely because of no money and no one to go with) and buying a fursuit (unlikely because of no money, no one to go with, and it's just way too much money for me to spend on something I don't even know if I'll like)

I hate when people talk about how they 'came out' to their parents about being furry.

Yay for people who believe everything they see on TV!

People are so gullible lol.

you've got to be kidding?

I'm quite fine with furry's, and I don't see why people hate them, It's just a style of art, not some creepy special interest Well not most of the time. ;)

Mwaahahaha

I don't see why people hate them
Because some people believe everything they see on TV, and then they tell the same BS to other people

The TV told me that all this stereotyping started with an episode of one of those CSI shows

Bullstuff. Nobody stipulated their perspective on furries through loving CSI Miami. Get over it.

It's people like you that actually give furries a bad name. Put down your victim complex and realize that it's a bizarre fascination that garners the same kind of negative attention as bronies, and cross-dressers. You're abnormal. Your associations and groups are weird and they differ from the norm. That's what got you into them in the first place. Desperate to find a place for belonging and comfort, because you did not fit in with the typical and normal medium, you clung to a social group that fit in your fascination and purposefully fostered this idea that you're not Adam, you're actually a fox.

And while that's fine and dandy and I don't think you should burn for it, you chose to grow and cling to this idea and you're the one that made it public and you have to deal with the consequences that some people, if not most, are not going to like it. You might as well find solace over that fact now.

so now iban is sensible too? why isn't he banned yet?

Are you seriously that dense?

I've shown interest with the My Little Pony Fandom, explicitly stated that I'm neutral with furries, and have praised VerticalHorizon over the course of years now for being as open as he is.

I have no problems with any of those groups, I'm just pointing out a truth: If you're going to be weird, you have to deal with the fact some people will legitimately not like you for it. Adam is claiming that CSI Miami twisted their innocent little subculture into a horrible underground love special interest, and that's simply not true. People who dress up as animals and who draw themselves as animals are loving weird.
