Either way, blockland to me will just not seem the same.
I just can't accept the fact that all of my hard work over the past two years is all going down the drain.  If you were in my place, you would understand how I feel.  I don't know if I'll ever will see blockland he same way after this.

I came to blockland to create.  I wanted to make my own game.  I've done that, and had fun while it lasted.  I'm only one person, and nobody probably even cares about what I think.  I honestly feel pretty devastated by this entire thing.

How am I not in your place. Is the update only affecting you now?

The only way Blockland has "stooped to Roblox's level" is in it's superior brick physics and lighting.  We have not sunk in any other aspects, and the aspects we have already "sunk" to are obvious upgrades.  If you're that against Roblox than you're a blind tard and you need to shut your biased mouth.
Who are you talking to?

Also, I think that there should have been more advanced notice that maps and stuff were going away, so map makers and such could decide if they still wanted to make something that could only be used for a short time. Granted I don't know how much longer it'll take until the update.

Stonequest

I mainly play on city RPG's, knife TDM's, jailbreak, and freebuild servers.

This wouldn't affect me in any way whatsoever.

I don't like it when people don't see what terrain has brought to the game.

big woop if my slopes tdm is gone. i'm not gone

and i have so many new cool ideas i can't wait to use. sure we can have one last dance with the slopes, but there's a new era starting up!

I'm hoping a new terrain maker will come soon. Maybe we can port Slopes n other stuff once it's back.

Sorry, was talking to Coolio, lol.  Didn't see his quote until you posted it so I just kinda responded along with you ;P

Also:  Basing this on how long big updates like this have taken in the past, I'd say it'll easily be quite a few more months (if not a year...) until this is out.

You already could show us a preview of the shadows, so what's going to prolong the development so much?

I think this is funny how people are going to be leaving because of this.

I remember back in Vanilla when Retail was announced. Being the cheap kid I was then, I sided with not buying Retail and keeping the original. I wasn't going to pay for a game I already owned, and so I left. About a year later, however, I realized how much stronger the community became with the changes Retail made. I remember seeing the Zombie mod for the first time and pretty much peeing myself. I bought it and proceeded to kick myself for not getting it sooner. Heck, it's so much better you couldn't force me to go back to Vanilla.

This change will be the same way in terms of the game improving. Will I miss all the old maps? Of course, the Bedroom holds a lot of memories. Will I play the "built" Bedroom? Probably not, it's just not the same. Will a lot of my creations and ideas become obsolete or broken. Yes, but this just means I now have to be more creative in implementing them. Despite all this, with terrains and interiors out of the way, we will be able to get tons of new content, most likely including things we've wanted for years (better vehicle collision, dynamic lighting, etc.).

When Retail was announced, money was a legitimate reason for people to split. A change like this isn't even worth complaining about.

Why choose when we can have both? Yes, many servers host on terrain or interior maps, but if you've noticed, more and more have started to use just slate. The only real "games" we're losing are races, dogfights, and fortwars. Yet all of those can easily be accommodated to work with brick-made terrain.

ONTOPIC - With. I know this sounds sad, but most people I know are put off by Blockland's graphics.
You have to admit the new blockland is going to look pretty sweet.  And for most people first looks are all that count.  Hell, I have to practically beg anyone I know to try Blockland.  And most of them just look at the screen, once, and turn back to whatever they were doing.
Which brings me to my next point.  Blockland is a commercialized game.  You pay for it once.  No subscription.  This means that Badspot only gets money from you once.  That's it.  After that, no money.  There is no reason for him to listen to your pleas or cries for him not to release this update.  He wants more money.  And to get that money he has to attract more players.  Thus, shadows and shaders.
But don't worry, maps will come back.  One of the main point of the game that attracted me was the ability to add your own content.  A big part of this content was maps.  For this reason, I don't think interiors and terrain will dissapear forever.  If Badspot wants to attract as many people as possible, he will have to bring custom maps back.  Hopefully in some other, better lit format.  If he doesn't, believe me, someone will find a way.

Meanwhile, I'm going to sit back, relax, and dive into some scripting.  Maybe I'll actually learn something before the new update is released.
