Because this got bumped, I might as well reply. Yes, I have played dogfight servers. Heck, that was the gamemode of the majority of servers I hosted. However, saying that they use "a VAST amount of terrain" is misleading. In relation to INFINITE terrain, most servers use less than 1% of that. With a bit of work, you can generate the amount of terrain needed to produce a good dogfight server. And as we get closer to the release of this update, more and more work-arounds have been developed. Look at the terrain brick topic Wedge started. With a little bit of coding, someone could create a terrain generator that would use these pieces and create giant landscapes that would work perfectly for these game modes. And to your comment about my "one look", it's not entirely based on servers though similar statistics are pretty prevalent just about any time you query. Look at the numerous polls asking the community about the update. All the polls are in favor of the update by at least 40%, if not more. It's an ever-shrinking minority that doesn't want terrains.Any actions thus far against the update have utterly failed. I don't see why that'd change any time soon.
I am currently playing in my own Dogfight server right now. I have to fly away from the base in order to get good enough FPS to dogfight properly. This holds true even though the bases are built using a minimum of bricks. If the terrain itself was made entirely out of bricks, it would be completely impossible to play.
Sounds like you just need a better computer or modify your settings.
Ok, Crap now. IDEA:We can save v20 forever. And let the people who like terrains and interiors keep it. So 2 open versions for Blockland. Interiors and Terrains and another version with Shadows and Shaders.
Or Simply its because he is hosting a 64 player dogfight server?
That wouldn't work because v20 automatically updates to the latest version.
No No No.They can make 2 downloads available, v20, and the Continuing updating Blockland.
