Dad has swag. Good parenting and kid got owned.

I've been looking at the two sides to this, and I have come to a conclusion.

His way of punishing her was necessary, but to a small extent, a little bit over the edge.
Yes, he did shoot it to emphasize his point.
Yes, he did turn the tables on her when he posted the video.
Yes, this may be the one thing that changed her life.
BUT, in terms of what could have been done better, I do believe that instead of shooting it, he could've sold it for a good price.
But I do believe that by posting the video, he simultaneously attracts both negative and positive attention.
But the thing is, how much negative attention, and to what severity will come to him?
The same goes for positive attention.

I believe he stirred up something that could have been kept discreet, so in conclusion, while he managed to discipline his daughter, and in the process fix things, he has also managed to stir up a storm with both good and negative results.

Then, pray tell, what joy did I kill?
cut your pedantic bullstuff tokthree
I like you as a forum member bro
don't ruin it

(also the fun was the pun I made)

The only question I have is why did he have to pay for software if he was in IT?

Both the parent and the child are idiots.

However the child is an extreme case of "first world problems" or otherwise known as ungrateful.

probably software unrelated to his job

People in the comments are talking about how hard her life will become, even though he said that she would be allowed to use the home phone when she has a job. You didnt need the internet when you were 4, you dont need it to survive. Plus, she is 16, she can get a car.

yeah, where are people getting this "hard life" stuff from?

Well, he did say that he bought her the laptop. The computer is legally his property. He can do whatever the Hell he wants with it. The part of the video that I feel didn't need to be on YouTube is him shooting the computer. That makes him seem almost childish in his punishment, but to Hell with it, he can do what he wants.

The daughter deserves this by the way, I did get to see the video.
