i had to disable (from bios) the wireless card and card reader as they were sharing the south bridge with the express slot. so now im running it on x16 properly.

im yet to install the card's drivers. plan to test it out on some mw3 in a bit

suddenly, my Acer Extensa 4620 is now more valuable...

except I have no other GPU.

i already had extra monitor/psu/gpu. so i really only spent like 100 bucks to do this lol

Do you have to use an extra monitor?

This has to be dangerous or something.

a laptops monitor, at least my model, i assume all; is dedicated to the north bridge "ports". that should be your graphics chip alone by itself. so i dont know any way around that. pretty much have to use another monitor.

edit; unless your laptop's monitor allows an "in" connection or something. i can imagine just running the monitor port of your choice right back into it lol

On carpet? D:

But anyway, good idea. Would have to jumper the PSU unfortunately though.

Lucky ass bastard. I wish I had a budget to afford any GTX, im stuck with a GT.

You can buy USB GPU's.
But they are only a little better than integrated and have very little bandwidth.

I've never heard of those. Since their not stable (because its plug & go) I bet you wouldn't see much of a difference between that and a integrated GPU (unless its like a crappy one from 12 years ago)

its got a huge plastic plate on bottom. the board itself isnt touching anything

Possible to upgrade from Mobile Intel graphics to something Skyrim can play on? Friend distraught over inability to play Skyrim due to laptop graphics. 'No' expected, but hoping otherwise.

its only possible if the laptop;

a: has an express card port. there are usb options peope have fiddled with, but i dont think usb2.0 has quite the bandwidth that a pci2.0 x16 lanes can reach.

b: that express card port can run at least 8, but preferably 16 lanes. hardwares on the laptop can be disabled (and a special software needed) to reallocate lanes on a bridge.
