Author Topic: Is the guitar or keyboard easier to play?  (Read 3070 times)

My friends and I were debating this during lunch on friday, and I needed more people to ask about it. So, which one is more difficult?

You could just say you were debating with me. TELL THE TRUTH

Nicky: Can the keyboard be JUST AS difficult to play as the guitar
Dodger: THe question is that
Nicky: You need to keep in mind I NEVER stated it's more difficult unlike you
Dodger: The guitar is more difficult

I play guitar, but a keyboard looks like it is easier to play than a guitar after you memorize all the keys and such.

From personal experience, I find the piano/keyboard easier to play than the guitar, as guitars have only six natural notes to work with and you have to learn all the chord positions.

I'd have to say the guitar is harder to play.

It kind of depends on what kind of person you are, but most people find it harder to play guitar then piano.

I'm not voting but out of personal opinion, it can be just as difficult.

I believe with different hand positions and the added difficulty of both strumming and pressing down the string instead of just pressing a key, the guitar proves more of a challenge for most people.

haha the poll looks like a richard  :cookieMonster:

IMO guitar is harder to play

keyboards are extremely easy compared to guitars imo

But it's not just pressing a key

just saying.

Comparing guitar to piano is entirely loving pointless. When I first started playing guitar I bought one from Guitar Center, learned how to read tabs and was playing Arials by System of a Down flawlessly within a few days. Then I got a piano, attempted to read sheet music and took lessons from my sister and at the end of the month I still had no loving clue what I was doing. My ex gf picked up the piano like a total badass but when she got a guitar she ended up selling it after a few months because she couldn't figure it out. It all depends on the way you were built so you have to try both in order to figure out what it's like for you. You might as well say, "What genre of music is ultimately the best?" there is no right answer.

Since my face pretty much just said that, I'll agree with it. ^

I've played both (guitar for about a year and a half, piano for over 11 years and still playing) and I can personally say that they're kind of hard to compare, like VH said. They each have their respective difficult parts and simple parts. It really all depends on your taste and what you're willing to do and learn, but if I were to recommend one, I would definitely recommend the piano.
