Author Topic: Add-on copyright? (Lol?)  (Read 4622 times)

Also, Psp told me he wasn't legally able to tell who copyrighted it, Brian is most likely faking to have it more to himself and not get the mod leaked. Doesn't surprise me.

I think copyrighting a mod is pretty stupid in my own opinion.
Drug mod was made by moppy.

You'd be an idiot for copyrighting a mod.
Assuming there isn't some nullifying law or contract you agree to by making a mod specifically for Blockland (I don't know) then a programmer is automatically granted copyright to all original work they produce. Game mods may be considered derivative works though and would then be under the control of the copyright holder of the source material.

I asked crown about the drug mod before this topic was even posted, and he said the same thing, how he does not have legal permission to distribute it, then he said Brian Smith copyrighted it, and I asked how could someone copyright what they never made, and then I said Cromedome most likely made it (Because it is named Cromedome's Drug Mod) and then he said: "Maybe Brian does own the mod." or something related to that, then at that point he told me to leave him alone, and then I asked Brian Smith later on if he was Cromedome, and 2 minutes after I asked him that, he signed off.

Hahaha Psp is a known idiot. He claims that he got his key revoked because he,"Cleared somebodies build", which you can't get banned for something as simple as that. Don't trust what he says lol.

Now is born a new conspiracy! Viva la revolution!

no bl mod is copywrited. and likely couldnt be if they wanted to.

Sometimes, making licensing information available somewhere can actually be a good idea/has to be done.
For instance:

Quote
Title: -snip-
Author: Port
-snip-

All rights except below noted to Valve Corporation, Edmund McMillen, Florian Himsl (2011-2012).
All rights in code context and independent content to developers. Sub-licensed to Blockland LCC.
For any details not available in this notice, refer to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ .

And no, I'm not Edmund McMillen or Florian Himsl.

I am absolutely loving the fact that this drug mod distribution is getting so widespread, that the feature itself is becoming extremely boring.

crashed and burned.

btw, if Blockland owns your buildings legally, does it own your mods too? Afterall, they weren't developed with ingame tools, they were developed on separate programs and used on the Blockland system.

This. It's a bit of a shady area. There's also the clause (in the laws) about it being original enough to be copyrighted.

No such thing as "copywrited". Also thought you, if anyone, would know better.

My understanding is that Blockland owns the builds, but not the mods, but I'm not sure about models that use the minifig model. And the part about the builds is overridden if the country's law doesn't allow transfer of copyright.

Then there's also the fact of that stuff defaults to all rights reserved, meaning that you don't have any right to use it for anything other than what the law requires (for example, Swedish law automatically grants people (not corporations) the right to use it).

yes.

you can copyright something, (not applicable to bl builds or mods)  then you register that copyright. (legally you wouldnt be able to as you are not the bl likeness owner)

one could try and watermark a copyright, that would be legal for any personal intellectual property elsewhere. cept you dont own your builds or mods for bl.

Copyright is implicit when you make something unique enough.

Copyright is implicit when you make something unique enough.
You can register a copyright though as an additional means of protecting it. It's easier to defend your claim to a work if you have official documentation on who owns it and when it was created.

that cannot apply to a bl build, and impossible for a bl mod.

are you guys missing the point or just stupid...

Fairly sure that's only a verification of "this copyright will hold in court", as well as official documentation of that you were first.

Please refer to what makes it not apply to a mod.
