Basically, if you're looking for a vector drawing program, that's where programs like Illustrator come in.
$599.00? Silly Manty, you're talking to what is most likely non-rich people who aren't able to use their money on whatever they want!

I think i'll stick to Inkscape for vectoring for now

:(

"... programs like Illustrator."

I know you understood what I meant but I never said you should go buy Illustrator if you want to make vectors.  I read the first page of responses and felt like someone needed to say something so someone wouldn't blow a ridiculous amount of money on Fireworks and find that they're not working in a true vector drawing program.

Adobe needs a student software program like Autodesk's.  :panda:

manty speaks the truth

fireworks was mainly developed as an assistant program to dreamweaver, which is an html coding platform.

illustrator is what the pros use for vector drawing. the pros being the people who design logos like nike, mcdonalds, ABC News, NBC Pearooster logo, etc etc.

if you really want these programs (Adobe Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks) for rather cheap, make sure you're in a computer illustrating class and wait until cyber monday, then buy the student package for $500 (normally costs $1800). it basically is all the programs that cost like $400-500 each but cheaper since you are student

also i heard keygen works too, but i wouldn't suggest you to do that.

For those who don't know or have never used Fireworks, it's not primarily a vector program.  I say this because although you can make vectors with it, that's not really what it was made for.  Fireworks is used primarily for web design and you often use it with Dreamweaver and/or Flash.  Basically, if you're looking for a vector drawing program, that's where programs like Illustrator come in.

That was random and kinda unnecessary..

I tried remaking zoge's head with illustrator. It generally was a lot more fiddly and wouldn't cooperate as much as fireworks :/

No it wasn't.  I gave some good advice and even explained why I said what I did in my two posts.  Go back and read the thread.
If anyone's post is unnecessary, it's yours.

It wasnt requested or prompted. You just posted it out of nowhere.

Also of course we know its not only a vector tool. There is not a single CS5 Program that only serves one function

"Excuse me?"

Don't know why you're making such a big deal out of me giving some advice for those interested.  Since when has posting something that wasn't "requested" been against the rules?  I gave reasoning as to why I posted what I did and I told you to go back and read it.  You didn't.

That's quite a big generalization to say that "we" know it isn't "only a vector tool."  Why would I post that if everyone knew?  Obviously there is no "CS5 Program" that serves one function.  You're pointing out something obvious that I already said.  I got responses from Masterlegodude and Conan on the subject, and I may have even made people considering buying Fireworks re-consider for a different Adobe or vector program in general (once again, I said this in one of my posts).  Sorry to the OP for de-railing this a bit.

Well forget me. Sorry for being a huge douche.
