Buying energy with crowns is a normal thing to do. Most people buy energy with crowns.

i honestly don't see how people can get enough energy to craft any 4/5 star stuff (without grinding forever). even making 3 star stuff seems like too much energy.

I get about 9k+ crowns in cash easily per level 2 run, that's 100 CE and a bit left over.
I could log on right now and do the two more runs I need to in order to upgrade my Silversix, but I won't because too lazy

Last night, starting from the beginning and going up to the Moorcraft got me 3411 crowns

It can be pretty easy to get crowns if you have the energy

There would be no gameplay if you only needed the materials, materials are piss easy to get and you'd be in full t5 by the end of the first day without the energy requirements

You should never start at tier one and go down if you've already went down to moorcraft or emberlight on a certain gate. You can get back down there for free and continue earning money there. Smashing jellyking is a good way to get heat and crowns if you've unlocked the mission sovereign slime.

Once you get to tier 3, an average vanaduke run nets around 11-12k crowns not including materials/equips found along the way. Heat there will often make a 5star weapon earn around 3 levels.
