Author Topic: Good livestreaming alternative?  (Read 1020 times)

Apparently livestream is now only available to people who want to pay.
Are there any alternatives with a similar service?

Twitch.tv, a subdivision of Justin.tv, is what a lot of people use currently to stream video games. The site split off from Justin and is intended specifically for video games.

does that have ads?
from what I remember Justin.tv didn't have ads, so that shouldn't either
anything is better than Livestream
don't know why everybody even used it

You usually get a an ad if you watch a previously recorded video and an occasional popup ad at the bottom of a stream. It's pretty noninvasive besides that. Streamers can force you to watch an ad but the people who do that have thousands of people watching their stream at any given time and hopefully do it during things like useless cut scenes, loading screens, or lobbies.

Criken livestreamed the other night, and he periodically put up advertisements I couldn't even see when he took breaks. Was funny, he'd accidentally put up two, but I wouldn't see anything still.

Getting to cast is a pain in my opinion.

After Justin.tv twitched to twitch.tv, there are even less tutorials on how to cast.

"Use XSplit"
Your problem is solved. Although really, that's the easiest free way to get started right now.

I should also point out, twitch.tv has a great community. Get involved in it and you'll have other people raiding your streams when they're done streaming.

I saw that you followed me on Twitch last night so thanks. I need to advertise more. I'm watching some Chinese guy play the same game horribly but the difference is that he has almost 2000 viewers currently. I topped out at 3 last night.

Yea I was disappointed to notice you stopped streaming by the time I got there! It's all about the followers really. Just need a few regulars to get your cast above the other people with 1 viewers..

Ah sorry. I updated my thread with a bit more info about when I'll be playing next. Once I have everything set up nicely I'll start trying to advertise more.

Uh sorry for the thread hijack Lugnut.
