"where do you live?"
"america"
"WHICH ONE"
"-_-"
sign,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
stupid people are stupid
When they say "Which one?" when you say "America" it could mean by asking North America or South.

most people consider america being comprised of both north and south america
the same with europe and asia
considering there's no ocean separating the two people, instead using cultures, becoming eurasia
also, the same rule should apply to the americas
there's actually no ocean separating both north and south america
the only thing separating the two are the panama cbrown town
The Rio Del Secret is a small river that cuts off the entire western shoreline of the Americas. Alaska, parts of Canada, California, some of Mexico & most of central America, and a very small portion of Panama are actually islands. This river isn't widely known, so you won't find any info on Google.

antarctica is also an archipelago
but why is it a continent?
australia is larger due to it being solid, but is antarctica its own things like australia because nobody inhabits it, it has no existing culture, and it has oceans separating it?

the "united states" are pending a real name be given to us lol.
its been a few hundred years, i would think they could have come up with one by now.

America is not a country though. Theirs no country named America.

Isn't the "Of America" part just kinda referring to the continent. The U.S is in?
??

??

It's just a short way to say 'The United States of America'. Chinese people don't say "I'm from The People's Republic of China". Like I said before, given the context, people will know what you're talking about.

Okay the argument started when the other guy was like "Yes india's in the continent that starts with an A and ends with an A"

I said all continents started and ended with an A "Asia, Afria, Antartica, AMERICA"

He proceeded to say America is not a continent it's "North America"
But I mean, the continent its self is AMERICA, North and South, are just you know, north and south...

no
anytime you hear someone say "America," they are unlikely to be talking about North or South America
He proceeded to say America is not a continent it's "North America"
But I mean, the continent its self is AMERICA, North and South, are just you know, north and south...
this is some extreme deja vu...

They say "im from america" mainly because we dont call ourselves "united staters", we say "americans". Everyone knows that you are from USA when you say "im american"

You can tell when people dont want to be wrong when the scenario constantly changes or gets new details

What I thought we lived in India.

Uh, no.

North America and South America are separate continents.

Also, if we are not Americans, what are we, then?
United Statians?

Europe.

I've always referred to the continent as North America and the country as the United States of America and I refer to the people as Americans because I can't call you a "United-Statian". That just doesn't make sense.
If anything, it's America's lack of exact name to be the problem.
United States of America isn't really the name of a country so much as it is a group of places under the same government.

It's like me saying the United Kingdom is a country (Which it is often referred to, but I can't see how it is).
Well, it's not a country. It's a Kingdom, made of Countries.
And for me to refer to UK as the name of my country isn't really right.

I think what I'm trying to say is that USA is your country, North America is your continent and Americans are you people because you have a really awkward name for your country.
It's a bit like the UK renaming itself to the United Kingdom of Europe and then calling our country "Europe".
USA gets away with it though because it makes up most of North America.

How did you come to use the same term as me? :C
