I may be able to pull that off in a way, however, if I'm going to do that, you won't get any dynamic coloring. The weapons will have to be stuck with one color. Or else, datablocks galore.

Oh, and one more thing, I just thought of it. this can actually also give some aesthetic benefit because you'll be able to see the cannons in first person.
