I've deleted a bunch of characters. And plus the level cap changes each expansion.

I don't believe you randomly deleted high level characters for no reason. Regular people leveled their 60s -> 70s -> 80s -> 85s. If you have multiple endgame characters in one expac, I'd expect you not to never play them again because a new one comes out.
