every night when I sit in bed if there is a very dim light on the ceiling I look at it for 5 seconds then it get darker then even darker eventually its completly black then when I blink its the same light and it happens again and again.

What's happening is your eyes are adjusting to the light/dark via iris enlargement/contractment/yes.

Pretty sure it's just your eyes adjusting to the light. Because that happens to me on the regular.


The funny thing is that I do this all the time.
Such as, I look at the light on my mouse because boredom, and suddenly everything gets darker

See, lay down in your bed at night and stare around the room without shifting your eyes. The room will progressively become darker until it is as dark as it is closing your eyes. I assume lucid dreaming starts like this but I always move my eyes at like the last second. This is like seventh grade science!
