I need reasons why you shouldn't be able to buy power.

So my friend and some people he know is starting a minecraft server. I saw him looking around in the spawn (i think).
There was signs for diffrent classes, and some of them you had to donate money to get. (around 3 of them, one of them were admin)
My friend thinks this is pretty stupid, but when we talked with his friend over skype, that guy thinks it good for some reason.

I'll loving hate it if they keep this, because buying power is one of the most stupid things someone can do.
Please give me reasons whe it's bad, and I'll show him some if I get good ones.

There's nothing in Maplestory that you can't buy with the ingame currency aside from cosmetic items

In a minecraft server, I'd agree with you.

However, in free to play games, the company wants money, and also needs money to keep the game running.
So they offer the players something they would actually buy in order to keep the servers running, and also make money.

World of Tanks has a nice idea of how you can make donations without being P2W, same as for Alliance of Valiant arms, to an extent.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with people getting stuff by donations but the given stuff should be accessible to a normal player (See: Alliance of Valiant Arms) sooner or later, or there shall better items which are given to the users which play normally (See: World of Tanks, seriously, the premium tanks in that game are garbage, but that is because the game has a very good meaning of tiers [also, you can buy better shells so I guess it fits under a P2W kinda, but not too much because even so you can be taken out by another tank if you don't do it correctly]).

Paying for things that give you an advantage over others is a loving horrible idea. Tell the host he is a complete stuff host and his server is terrible. If he was intelligent he'd sell cosmetic features that give no advantage in gameplay if he wanted donations.
