My apologies if this is in the wrong board
I think this would ideally be in Suggestions and Requests, but nevermind.
I quite like the idea.
I'd be quite happy to see people happily sharing their creations and stuff.
And in place of the maps it makes good sense.
Unfortunately, I wonder how many people we will find who will decide to post builds that aren't theirs, or even how many people would decide never to post things of theirs for fear that they would be stolen.
And I know that we technically have the "no flaming" rule in the Gallery section, but would that also apply to the Builds?
I obviously understand that it would be nasty to go and be completely rotten to someone because you don't like their build, but I would be nervous (For lack of a better word) over how many new players will upload their very first builds with no real design to them at all, as in builds where it is nothing of any worth.
Or people who would post without pictures and then just leave us to get on to anything that could be quite rubbish.
But I would be very happy to see Terrain things included in there too. And no, not in seperate topics.
I don't want to go scouring through one topic for, say, a Beach Terrain when it could be within tens or hundreds of pages when I could get on to the board and simply see "Beach Terrain Build - Tropical" and decide to open that topic.
I really love the idea and with the new system and chance to maps and such, I'd love to see it incorporated into the forums to promote the idea that Kompressor and Badspot want, that we get back to the basics of actually building.
It just needs some kinks ironed out. Most would just be board rules, but the "unwritten rules" would eventually be filled out by the forum-goers. A form of ettiquette would be established for the board if it were to be made.
Of course, there'd probably need to be a stickie or something explaining where to find saves, upload them and link it to the forums, as well as taking pictures, uploading and presenting them (Whether as attatched items or through image-hosts).
