Author Topic: What happens if the IDs run out?  (Read 4841 times)

Say what?

If they run out, then they may try to use a new BLID inputer system, or just stop BLIDs all together.

That could happen.
That would forget up a lot of addons and the admin system. I dont think we'll have a problem with IDs, Badspot is smart, he'll think of something if we ever get to that point.

I remember everyone thought the game would break when the 5 digit ids came

Or at least me.  I paniced when I saw a 9.9k blockhead join a server.

I see Kalphiter has an interest in this thread.

BL_IDs would probably be ####A or something.
for example, mine would be 12643A if i doubled.

Blockland will never exceed more than 100k members and probably never more than 30k active members. If we reach that point than we are incredibly lucky.

At this point I think that the lower ID players wouldn't be playing and ID cycling would be most effective.

No.

Fine. Have it go up to 30 some odd million.

As stated a few times already in this thread, IDs aren't the problem, keys are.

Realistically, though, I don't think anything is the problem, as I doubt Blockland will ever because that popular

It is possible for Blockland to become uber popular if someone famous went and endorsed it on his videos.

But even if that happened I don't keys would necessarily "run out" maybe just go to like those 1e123 numbers.

33.5 million people? And which "uber popular" people are we talking about?
William Shatner, Ozzy Osbourse, Mr. T, and Chuck Norris and more have "endorsed" WoW and it's nowhere near 33.5m subscribers

The first 5 characters of the key directly translate to your ID. Once this has maxed out (the first five characters reach 99999) getting more keys isn't as easy as "make the number bigger!"

Everyone, send Kevin a PM on youtube to advertise blockland!

What?

The key system is based on the fact that there will be no more than 33,554,432 different keys, the last key would have the following as its first 5 characters: 99999

The last key would be ZZZZZ-, not 99999-. Nevermind, it would be 99999-, actually. They use a ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ012 3456789 index.
