Author Topic: The wrath of my school might be coming down on me.  (Read 3104 times)

I'm venting right now. Hear me out.

Our school doesn't want backpacks in class because of some bullstuff drug trafficking rule, so I bought a 16" laptop case with a bit of room to put all my stuff in because I'm always late, which I figured was alright because the school allows those large fabric "Case-It" binders, and a lappy case was but a step up if not the same. For the most part, it was fine too. I walked past administrators and they didn't care, and most of my teachers didn't care either. There was but one teacher though that didn't approve of it, and that was Mrs. Cook. Mrs. Cook said that it was a backpack and told me to not bring it back to school. I wasn't going to let her keep me from getting to classes on time so I kept bringing it, trying my best to keep her from noticing. this went on for about a week until she got annoyed and dragged me up to the office after class. At which point she brought me up to Mrs. Aliveto who had a talk with me and concluded that it was a backpack and told me to stop bringing it. I decided that I wasn't going to go out and get something else just because the school decided to change it's mind on it's backpack policy, so I kept bringing it. On long periods I left it in my locker for her class, and on short periods where I didn't have the option to go to my locker I threw it over the lockers by her class where she couldn't see it. This also went pretty successfully for about two weeks until one day I was stupid enough to pull it down from the lockers about three feet away from her. she was beside herself and said that I would "receive and Office Referral" if I ever brought it again. I just took this as a warning that I had to be more crafty about what I did with it during her class. I kept it hid by doing the obvious. Throwing it over lockers farther from her classroom. That has continued to work even to this point. Today I had to bring my guitar to school for Science class, because this week is a wash because of State Testing, we were making a song about Mitosis. Anyways I was walking out of Science class to English class, with guitar, amp, and bag in hand, and I didn't realize that Mrs. Cook was near me. I had hardly gotten past her when I heard "Max, Stop here. I need to talk to you.". I was scared stuffless. I lied and said that I was just getting something from it for a class and was returning it to my locker, but she only cared that I had it in my hand at that moment. She said that She was going to talk to the Administrators and that she was going to have me see them again for this, then she let me to my class. I was infuriated at her. that brings me here. I'm sitting at home waiting for the next step. Hopefully it will be nothing. Maybe It will turn in my favor, but all I can do now is wait. By the way, Dictionary.com defines a Backpack as,"a pack  or knapsack, often of canvas or nylon, to be carried on one's back,  sometimes supported on a lightweight metal frame strapped to the body.". My laptop case has but a shoulder strap, and if I'm not mistaken, my shoulder is not and has never been my back.

Also: I don't actually carry a Laptop, just a case for carrying school related stuff.

Many teachers are exceedingly stupid.

What a douchebag teacher

I'm thinking of cleaning that up and using it as my defense against the administrators if they fall to her side.

What a douchebag teacher
Agreed.

And What's up with the drug policy?
Backpacks?
Really?

If you don't take the sash into class I don't see the problem. That teacher is an idiot.

Banning backpacks isn't the way to stop drugs.

Why didn't you just stop bringing the bag to class? Seems like it was mostly your fault.

16 pounds of weed in a backpack

Not in class

Bathroom.

Taking it to class ultimately wasn't how I got caught.

That sucks man.

I'm glad my school doesn't ban backpacks in class, it's so much easier to just be able to go to class instead of stopping at your locker for supplies and then being late because your class is on the other side of the 1/4 mile long main hall.

However, we do have searches when deans get tips of drugs or anything, then they come to classes and search everyone's backpacks, and you empty your pockets followed by a metal detector sweep.

Exactly. I would be late for all my other classes otherwise.

How is a metal detector supposed to detect drugs?

Why did you still take it? Why did you "need" it?

Edit: Woops, sorry.

a petition is more orderly then peaceful protest for this situation
