Author Topic: Forum Based Key Recovery  (Read 847 times)

The forums are already linked into the user database with the BL IDs, so why not add a button that allows you to view your Blockland key?

This way if you no longer have the email you registered with you can still retrieve your key.

I think he means to allow a button on your profile wich allows you to see your key. incase you lost it and don't have email for it/doesnt exist.

This still sounds kind of abuseable though.

How is this abusable? It's only visible to you.

The only people that had their account broken into were the idiots that had an easy to guess password or told everyone their password.

Keys right now are pretty secure. You either have to guess the entire thing, or break into the email which the key was sent to (which the person might have a multitude of different emails). If you allowed key viewing from forum profiles, meaning that malicious users know exactly where to look.

they would still technically have to log in

And your point. If your username is your login, then all I have to guess is the pass, which I could try to scam from you or attempt to guess. Either way, if I get in, I'll be able to get your key. And account hacks have happened before (though they could hardly be called hacks, more like "one password for all" idiocy).

This is apposed to me having to try to find your email, break into it and look to see if it's the one that the key is in. If it is, great, that was time consuming. If not, I have to do the process over again with another suspected email.

If your account is compromised: there are bigger problems than your key being lost because a key can be requested to be changed. An account compromise is a viable thing.

i thought you misunderstood, nevermind

I wish we could put a password to protect our key in-game in case if someone got a hold of it, they would need the password in order to activate the key.
