Author Topic: mom/sister taking advantage of stupid house rules  (Read 2015 times)

So a few months ago, my mom suddenly made up this "bedtime" rule where if i'm not in bed by 11PM, then i get crap taken away, usually my laptop. I originally didn't have to go along with it because she intended it for my little sister, who you may remember me mentioning from my previous threads. However, on the second night that my mom was keeping this rule in effect, as my sister went up the stairs to bed, she shouted out "how come he doesnt have to go to bed?" while pointing at me. My mother said that I didn't need to, since my sister gets up earlier than i do because of her "schedule". My sister then asks "why doesnt he have a schedule but i do?" and my mom suddenly agrees with her and says to me "yeah, ok you've got to go to bed too now". I start to protest but i'm cut off by my sister who shouts at me "NOBODY CARES", then smirks at me and walks up to her room.

This rule has been really stupid since usually neither of us can ever seem to be able to "follow the rule" as my parents claim. I'll come out of my shower, put some night clothes on, then go to brush my teeth, and it seems that its ALWAYS whenever I am in the middle of brushing my teeth, my mom will come in and hold up her watch really close to my face as if i can't read, and say something ridiculous like "you're 21 seconds past your bedtime, computers going away tomorrow lol". To make matters worse, she has a badly distorted sense of time since her watch is 5 1/2 minutes fast, and even when I show her the correct time on our microwave/stove/computers she dismisses it saying "well all of those clocks are off by several mins my time is right and yours is wrong and i go by mine anyways". It just comes off to me as handicapped that I lose my computer for an entire day just because her messed up watch claims i'm 21 seconds late doing something as mundane as hopping in a bed.

So the next day, when I come home from school, I try to get on to the computer to do my homework (most of my classes require me to do it online). But, when my sister walks into the room and sees me on it, she suddenly yells out in her usual tattletale voice: "HOW COME HE GETS TO USE HIS COMPUTER?!" while pointing at me. My mom suddenly goes along with her and says "oh yeah no computer today you didnt get to bed on time lol".
I protest, reminding her that I actually did and that I have homework to do, but my sister interrupts me and says to my mom "he's just saying that so he can play his stupid blockworld" or "actually i saw him and he didnt get to bed on time" or something else along those lines. When I protest further, my mom just dismisses me again and says "well go read a book" or something handicapped like that. So now, for the rest of that day I am stuck in the family room unable to complete my assignments and unable to watch netflix, since my dad is busy watching the news. What really dissapoints me is that my parents seem to almost always go along with whatever my sister says about me, even though 95% of the time it's lies.

And what really pisses me off is that this SAME SCENARIO has been going on for the past 6 DAYS. I have hardly ever been able to get on my computer now since my mom decided to enforce the rule like a national socialist, and whenever I DO make it and my sister doesn't, she lies to my mom so that I can suffer along with her.

Thankfully though whenever they leave the house (my sister has to go to a place called learning rx or something plus gymnastics often), I am able to get on the desktop and use it, but if my dad comes in then i always have to move over because he wants to play skyrim.

I don't really have bedtime rules, my parents let me go to bed whenever I want but I usually suffer from no sleep because of that so I learn from my mistakes.
edit: 21 seconds what your mom is handicapped

I think you should tell your mother that your sister is lying.

She's probably being stupid and going with the stereotype that teenagers lie constantly.

Seriously, if my brothers did this to me, you can bet I would be discussing it with my parents.

Kill your sister.
Its the only way.

That sucks dude, I would start looking for every opportunity to call your sister out on stuff she's doing wrong because if she's stupid enough to tattle annoyingly, then you can do the same no problem.

imo you should try to make her hear you out

my parents aren't even up at 11.
I never really had a bedtime because I was always willing to go to bed early.
I prefer to wake up really early in the morning and have time to play videogames and stuff before school.
Sadly now that I'm working and I don't get home til 10:30 on nights I work I have had to adjust my sleeping routine and now miss out on morning time.

Not really.

Similar bullstuff happens to me - I'll be listening to the radio in my mom's minivan, and my brothers will play their DS-es.

My mom will suddenly switch to a movie for my younger brothers. I'll protest, "They are playing their games." I don't get a response back.

wow i feel bad for you. :c

What if you acted all weird like you don't care for what your sister says, like ignore your sister and your mother, but keep following her rules. You could test how they react to what you do, you can be always changing the way to act. Try that. :D

I have an amazing idea.
Don't do anything from school that involves the computer.
Mother asks, tell her she keeps grounding you so you ca- Wait, considering what she does now she'll probably just think you're lying.
forgetnuts.

I try to explain the truth as often as I can when my sister lies, but usually I am unable to convince my parents when she is involved, and so I am still punished.

You should just tell you're mom to go forget her self.
I find that when my mom is getting all pissy and not listening to reason and stuff, just saying something that actually makes her hear your words is effective.

but if my dad comes in then i always have to move over because he wants to play skyrim.
epic dad

If you need schoolwork done online, stop doing it and then once you start failing blame it on them being broken in the brain
