I haven't seen a treasure room in the abyss yet, but I can confirm that the ones in snake pit are vertically long with vent-like tiles similar to the boss rooms. At the end of it is a switch that will spawn a moderately deadly enemy that has a chance to drop a spd pot.

all treasure rooms face north. they're, like you said, vertical long vent-like rooms with something you must destroy in order to get the loot.

Well I assume you meant those in abyss and snake pit, because toa and moti can have their entrances in each direction. :s
