Using the Tilde (~) in chat.

Author Topic: Using the Tilde (~) in chat.  (Read 1386 times)

I don't know how many times I've tried do say something with a tilde at the end, or make a silly little emote to express my sadness and hatred for everything, and when I press the button that damned console screen pops up. ;~;

So, please mr badspot or fancy forum men with top hats, make the tilde usable~

(And no, you can't copy-paste it in either.)

Use of console > use of single character

Use of console > use of single character
Other games can easily multitask with the two, I don't see why Blockland can't.
So say you're trying to write chat, oh ok, use it as a character.
Not typing anything? BWOOP console.

I have a feeling this sort of thing is scripted straight through the engine

Not to mention there are plenty of times where being able to open console while writing chat is useful...

use external console to do
commandtoserver('messagesent', "BLAH ~ BLAH");

Maybe some checkbox that enables the console in the options menu, but even then it isn't necessary.
I don't support your dumb ~kawaii~ messages.  The tilde should never be useable in the chat!

"Set the VCE filter thing to =~*console opens*"
"I mean, =~*console opens*"
"GOD forgetNIG DAMMIT"

is =~ a real thing?

is =~ a real thing?
Yes, it means "approximately equal to"

I meant from a VCE syntax or coding standpoint or something more than a chat message

it doesn't actually exist in TS

On my keyboard, the key above tab is ` or ¬      not ' though, ~ is over by enter so I can use it in chat; it appears when typing chat however it appears to disappear when I actually send the chat.
