But wouldn't it make more sense for Korra to have difficulty with firebending instead of airbending?

Bolin is totally the new Sokka. If it wasn't obvious before, it is now. Pabu is the new Momo, Mako the new Zuko, and I guess Korra would be the new Katara?
We still don't have the new Toph and Aang, unless you count Tenzin and Toph's daughter. (which I don't)

But wouldn't it make more sense for Korra to have difficulty with firebending instead of airbending?

her situation is quite different, on top of which she could literally do water/fire/earth decently at a very young age. she seemed to have "mastered" it by the beginning of episode one, but she is probably learning a few things from Mako as well.
