Author Topic: Submit Blockland to Steam  (Read 2544 times)

Yeah, but i'm sure it wouldn't come up on the F2 feature, if it goes onto steam it might or might not get to 100,000 or even 1,000,000 how the forget would that work?
Wouldnt it be strange to see Blockhead35000,s suddenly have a very low ID

Maybe if Blockland gets an Adventure Mode. Currently the only thing Single Player has is building. Multiplayer is the largest aspect of the game, but there isn't much of a variety in servers.

But the smart new comers would be all like: "Hey, if I host this type of server, I could get popular in seconds" or "If I made this type of add-on, I would go down in blockland history." Thus we would get lots of good servers.

This.
We would probably see a large growth in addons and server concepts.

See, the reason why there aren't many good servers is this:
Many people who don't own the game thought that $20 was a bit too much.
Little kids instantly go "OMG LEGOE!!!!" and buy the game in an instant.
Some think the mass features in BL is worth the $20.
Unfortunatley, the kids seem to be outweighing mature people, so a cheaper price and/or a steam release will really help.

But were not saying lowering the price, if he puts it on steam he'll get less money from each key, but then it would get so many more people buying it that that little difference in money from each key he gets wont matter.

he could raise the price for steam, and have the price be the same on his website

anyway, this "adventure mode" would probably be made by the players as an addon

Bigger numbers.

This is a bad idea....just wait for V21 and then we could see if this would work better.
maps and interiors make Blaockland a larger file than needed, so V21 should make it smaller and faster and more compassible with steam.

on a side note, Steam should have a system requirements lab + lock, you must first test your PC's ability to run the game before hand, and if it lacks enough power/room/etc it should lock it down and disable purchasing untill you test on a better pc.

where did you get this idea

I think it's broken.

Your computer must really suck then.

Uhh, most games I've bought on steam recently are 10+ gb in size, why do you think size is even a factor?

I think the main reason this wouldn't happen is because it means Badspot would actually have to adhere to someone elses standards.

gee i wonder why
As to this, the reason there isn't much variety in servers comes in a few parts:
- Modding is actually quite restricted, you can make fancy deathmatches but there's not really much else you're able to do on account of bad clientside support (almost every time I go to make something recently I find it's impossible because Badspot's cut off access to things I need or they're just not there to begin with)
- People who have the imagination to make something good lack the skills, so the server will be half-broken and not much fun
- People who have the skills to make something good are starfishs 95% of the time which tends to make the servers no fun anyway
