Seriously. I don't think any other video game has even approached the level of cartooniness embodied by Wario. He's completely invincible. It doesn't matter whether he's set on fire, frozen, flattened, shrunken, stung, or even turned into a zombie. He just goes through an amusing, gameplay-relevant reaction, then either just walks it off or falls into a pool of water and he's fine again. He cannot die and he cannot be killed. With the exception of the game's two sequels, both of which allow Wario to die somehow, I don't know of any other game like this.
