Author Topic: Manty - Abusing a glitch  (Read 4309 times)

This topic is backfiring cause we all know the blockland community loves to pick favorites and when their favorite does something bad they blame the OP for lying.

You guys only don't think its true because you think manty is "just so cool". He's not.

When I first went there, I asked why did Manty know that I was a hunter, and a guy said completely straight that he is using a glitch.

You see, the good guys tend to turn into the bad guys and vice versa.
When your hunter is near it says something along the lines of "Watch out, you're being hunted"

isn't this precisely what you did in the Mr. Lol topic?

Too bad this isn't the case. Greek2Me scripted the gamemode, and confirmed that Manty isn't abusing a glitch. Manty is just good at the game.

You just did the same loving thing in the Mr.LoL topic.

I don't even really care for Manty. I looked in the code, there isn't a possible way to know.

He was probably just saying he is to watch you flip stuff. People do it all the time. Look at all the "fungus hacking" topics.

Except this isn't a legitimate concern.

When your hunter is near it says something along the lines of "Watch out, you're being hunted"
It says that randomly between 10-20 seconds after a hunter gets you as a target.

Woopty doo, sorry for the mistake.

But this is a real glitch and not some stupid 10 year old lie topic. If greek feels up to it, he can ask manty or the people on that server what the glitch is.
I'm going to help you become a god on Jirue's Bounty Hunter server. You will be getting 20+ killstreaks and everyone will be accusing you of being a cheater.
1. Get the sniper and shotgun. Camp a rooftop.
2. Constantly be on the lookout for your target. When you see him, headshot him and you have the kill.
3. Always look around to see if someone is firing at you, staring you down, coming closer to you, or trying to flank you from behind. Since you are on the rooftop, you should be able to take cover, headshot them, or fight back easily.
4. Once you have found a hunter via intelligence and number 3, you can constantly spawn camp them from your roof for hours.

But what if you have more than one hunter?

5. Like others were saying, when you get a new hunter, you will get a notification that says something along the lines of "Careful! You are being hunted." Using context clues, you can look at who has recently killed someone, or who has recently spawned in the minigame. Using those clues and also being aware of who is approaching you, shooting at you, and following you, you should find your hunter rather easily. Use number 4 to camp them and rack up killstreaks.

Congratulations, you are now using common sense and your brain to dominate the server. But it's just so much easier to say that the dominating player is abusing a glitch, rather than trying to figure how he dominates. Try a little harder next time.

mrxang is very much so correct, OP

Manty seriously pisses a lot of people off. He acts like he is the typical owner of Blockland or something. He needs to stop acting "Mr.toughguy" and play the game how it is.

Ninja guy, you're such an idiot.

This doesn't even make sense.

i think its funny how alot of people are so feverishly worshiping and defending their little daddy idol manty that they are too blind to see that ninja guy's got a point. i think he's got reasonable suspicions and i don't think that manty's reputation as an 'el33t mlg pro' or whatever should automatically dismiss all claims that he is abusing exploits. on the other hand i've never really liked manty or his little douchebag orgy gang either so i'm inclined to believe you ninja.

at first you guys didnt believe mrlol did the stuff he did either, and you were too busy jumping on the bandwagon to realize that it was possible he had done it, then you were all ":( aw i was wrong" when evidence surfaced that he did do it. unfortunately i dont think there is any kind of hard evidence for something like this though besides assumptions, so go figure.

Why would you barge in here defending Ninja and yet admit in the same post that you are totally aware that he has offered no real evidence? The claim that everyone is defending or attacking someone based on popularity is horribly flawed when you take into account how clear the facts are:

Arguments for Manty:
-The only proof is two pictures in which he killed his hunter.
-Mrxang has posted a lengthy description of how to play the game well, accounting for killing hunters efficiently.
-No description of how this exploit works.
-Greek2Me has posted that there is no such exploit in Bounty Hunter.
-Such an exploit doesn't even seem possible, due to the way the game mode is coded.

Arguments against Manty:
-He's doing pretty good at this Bounty Hunter game.

The majority of people are defending Manty because the majority of people can at least realize that there's no reason to believe he did this. (This was also the case in that Mr.LoL topic you brought up; the majority saw the facts and knew which side to be on.)

I haven't seen Manty in game much, and the most memorable time I did see him in the past few months was when he held up the game at the the boss battles server when he was the boss so he could use a spear to climb the walls of the bedroom and acquire a Shining Laser in the rafters. I knew him prior to this and considered him a friend, so most of the blame got shifted onto his accomplice. Still, when I saw this topic, I came in here ready to believe that Manty would indeed do this. I wasn't impressed by the OP, but I wasn't totally convinced that he was wrong until his evidence of something that was supposedly totally obvious turned out to be a couple pictures in a bunch of irrelevant ones that did not communicate anything at all.

Let's get to the point I'm making here: Following the facts does not make you a slave to social status.

There is no exploit in my Bounty Hunter gamemode that lets you know your hunter.

I don't even really care for Manty. I looked in the code, there isn't a possible way to know.

How hard is it to understand? An exploit like that is not possible. You should read Jetz's and mrxang's posts above.

My experience with Age of Time has taught me not to assume that people can't find the most unbelievable exploits, but I've looked at the bounty hunter code, and it is pretty convincing that the bug described is not real.
The individual client does not keep track of the people hunting it, thus, you'd have to test other clients to see if their target is you. In the script, the only time that's done is after you've killed the person. The client never receives the identity of their hunter. If a person had access to eval, they'd at least need to be somewhat clever to determine who is hunting them.

Through my experience of AoT - which has shown glitches like invincibility, regenerating health, moving around while stunned, getting back up off the ground after being killed, completing a race with a time in the negatives, teleporting across the map, ect. - I've come to suspect that people who don't understand the nature of scripting will equate hacking (and related terms like glitching and exploiting) with magic. They believe anything is possible through hacking. The obvious difference between hacking and magic that hacking is something that actually exists, so when some player does something that doesn't seem possible, while they have the sense not to write it off as magic, they can and do write it off as hacking.

Sometimes you'll come across people with poor ability to understand the world beyond their own viewpoint. They don't know how to do something, so how is it possible? They aren't doing well at a game, so how could other people be? They have something, possibly even subconscious, telling them that it's not possible, which, through the connection above, drives them to accusing the person of hacking or exploiting.

The picture's just look like he killed some guys. Maybe it is just him being good? I mean try and face Bushido in his server. He is basicly PRO and this might be the case with Manty.

Noedit:

Some of those were targets but please, it is true.
so? If it is true, what do you want us to do about it?
