The background behind why you are writing this kinda reminds me of what caused me to right a poem, however not as tragic.

Cities will burn, weapons will rust.
Flames will swallow the peace of the past,
As warriors follow their leaders, unsurpassed.

A cycle of hate, a force of destruction.
A war of fate, a world's division.
Another betrayal, a general's defection.
All will suffer for each act of aggression.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
The mind is corrupted, the body is crushed.
The kind are forgotten, the broken are lost,
The lives of the common, the greatest cost.

They're pretty good, but nothing really exceptional. It would be something I would expect to see in something like "A Collection of Amateur Poems Vol. 3" or something. Still pretty good, but not great.

Each line is a metaphor or reference. Maybe Firefish gets the references, but I might be able to do some explaining if you want.
