So, apparently the Yogscast are making a video game?

Yogventures! The Yogscast Game - Kickstarter

It's being created by Winterkewl Games LLC, a new game development team, this apprently being their first project.

It's a sandbox sort of game. Allowing you to create worlds and such. I'm a little bit unsure on what specifics there are but some of what they've described is as such:
  • Beautiful, randomly-generated game worlds that are different every time you start a new Yogventure
  • Fully shapeable terrain - with the ability for players to raise a mountain range or create a vast ocean; you can effortlessly shape your world however you imagine it
  • A wealth of novel building materials, creatures, NPCs and items
  • A rich underground to mine and explore - bristling with rare outcroppings of gems and crystals, hidden tombs and dark underground terrors that drop rare weapons and loot
  • A fully-fleshed out crafting system
  • An in-game physics engine that will even effect the blocks you place in your creations
  • The ability to customise your own unique avatar or play as one of your favourite Yogscast characters
  • Easy-to-use in-game modding API including in-game scripting
  • Ability for modders to have a chance to get their work added to the game
  • Regularly released video updates from the developers including the latest feature additions

It'll seemingly be a complete sandbox game with different gamemodes featuring Yogscast characters and the likes. But it's creative side is what they seem to be mentioning the most, in that you can create adventure maps and things.

They're planning this thing it seems and are asking for donations to get it going.

I've no idea if this is serious or whatnot and I'm not sure on what it looks like so far...
Anyway, I suppose, Discuss.

Who makes a game based upon a Let's Play?  It's like writing a book about a movie about a book.

It looks a little...

stuffty

would play if it wasnt affiliated with the yogscast

This is not going to end well..

So it's basically going to be a stuffty flash MMO about some overly popular lets players?

they are trying to recreate minecraft, and before anyone goes "OMG EVERU SANBOX GAEM ISNT COPENG MIENCRAEFT!!1," they are making a sandbox game based off let's players who play minecraft. if you make a game based off people who play a game, what game do you think you are trying to copy? it's going to be stuff.

While I'm not keen on the artstyle of it so far, it doesn't sound like it would be too poor.

The Yogscast themselves aren't touching the coding in any way and only the Development team they're working with are.
So the Yogscast are simply pitching ideas to it and relaying ideas from the players/fans to the Devs.

I can see how it won't be popular with people who dislike the Yogscast, since it seems to have a number of concepts that just revolve around their series, but I think it might be interesting to atleast test out.

Unfortunately, I quite like the Yogscast and I really enjoy their Shadow of Israphel series.
But, they seem to have really really stopped doing any of them. Despite saying they would have regular episodes following Christmas, they've had 2 rather boring episodes since the beginning of February.
And if they're going to be focussing on this, I could easily see them deciding to shift their view over to it instead.
In which case, the game might be a flop on so many levels that their YouTube videos suffer too.

I know a lot of people dislike the Yogscast for being overly popular for something seemingly trivial as what was initially a Lets Play, but I can't help but like it and hope that this goes somewhere at the least.

I can say that I'd only really just decide to keep an eye on it and see how it goes.
I wouldn't dedicate myself to hoping it turns out fantastically and I'm not likely to donate to them.

Most of the things they're going to add in from their series comes from the Shadow of Israphel, which isn't really a Let's Play anymore, although it started out as one.
I like the characters and story they've developed and it would be interesting to see what they do with them.

And for the most part, I think any characters they put in will just be like Cameo-style Quest Givers.

I doubt Winterkewl will be able to fulfill everything listed, since it's their first project.

I can imagine anyone who would donate $10,000 to this wouldn't be very entertaining for a conversation over lunch

they probably be in jail

wut they're trying to get $250,000 in 30 days?

hint: Anything that uses Kickstarter is a handicapped scam, and will never be finished under any circumstances.

This is like the new Looney Toons show which is more like a generic stuff show with the Looney Toon brand lazily slapped on?

AKA a generic, stuffty game with Yogscast branded on it?
