Because toons sounds better than hero and is the first thing to come to mind when I try to access the concept. I call them toons all the time in-game and you're the first person out of over a hundred games to make a comment on the word-choice.

I also call the ancients the "nexus" and creeps "minions". That does get a lot of comments, though.

or you know, you could just alt tab and do something else while it's going on

also, really want to get into this game because i love the heroes much more than champions in league and think they're way better designed, but it's hard to play it since i've played 1k+ hours of league :(
