Maybe you should spend a little more time with him, gain an actual understanding of how he is. Just try to be nice, even if it is hard for you. If it's difficult for you it may be for him too. I realize everything my parents provide for me and "take 1 day out of the year" what?
I do what they want every time and never argue with them, I even go to church with them every week despite having no interest in it, this is the 1 day out of 5 years that I don't do what they want.
