minecraft is a different game but that has nothing to do with resource saving. i'm saying there ARE ways to save resources, as minecraft does it and terrain currently does it. slopes doesn't save 5GB because it has to repeat. it saves it once then repeats the one save. that's what i'm suggesting for some new sweet brick terrain.

of course!

but i'm pretty sure any changes like that would have to be made to the engine.

of course they would which is what scares me.

Im sure if Port wasn't constantly telling me my code is butt then I could finish Minecraft's TG and make my own for regular blocklanders w/ Ghost's ModularTerr Bricks (only if otto helps integrate the ModTerr bricks ;3)

those are the 2 main points. driving will be solved but brick terrain, without support for floating bricks, will take up so much bricks if you want to build a whole world with it. i suggested a fix to this

i believe minecraft uses a system to allow the saving/loading of a ton "terrain". hopefully we will see something like this in the future so we can build far apart kingdoms and such without having to manage on such a large scale.
Minecraft breaks the world into different "chunks" (which are pretty small) which are saved and loaded individually. So when there's nobody nearby it's just dumped to the HDD and unloaded from memory. When people come back it'll be reloaded. If it doesn't exist then it runs the wgen first.

I'm pretty sure that it can actually be done through script.

making brick terrain that repeats infinitely without using a lot of memory/hard drive space in saves?

i thought that was what he was referring to.

yea through some deleting it when people aren't around you deal. still takes up alot and won't work effectively

Would be tricky, but yes, I think it would be possible.

I know it's not that on-topic but, I just found Badspot, Rotondo and Kompressor on K9 Kid's Zombie Hotel server

The ironic thing is, they just join slate servers, they are probably testing the shadows and shaders on servers to see if it's working properly

or they are just hanging out
