Author Topic: Blockland v20 + V21  (Read 32199 times)

In my opinion, interiors and terrains do not fit with BL's style. They contain ugly textures, ugly shading, and you can even spot the vertexes.
I think it was a good choice that komp, and baddy made. We're also getting something in return, which is of course shadows and shaders.

I believe people are clinging to the terrains and interiors because of the old times. Out with the old, in with the new.

This update may possibly even bring in new good times, because it would cause us to build more things. This would mean that the majority of the newer players would also get better at building. As a lot of people have said, this is Blockland - That game where you build stuff.

A bit biased to have the poll suggest "more fun" means keeping maps. There is no fun value in default maps anymore for me, they are just big fancy boxes to bounce around in.

I think the lighting effects will increase fun value with building and will make builds more enjoyable to walk through.

That's a good point. Though, I'm not sure if it will take like three years to modify the engine to fit that in.

What do you mean about buildable vehicles?

v0002 had buildable vehicles but it was horribly bugged and barely worked. obviously baddy didnt implement them in the final version.


now with terrains and interiors going away, the changes to the engine can make it possible.

That's cool that's 1 of the goods things i see in V21 other than terrain builders becoming needed more often :/

I'm not exactly sure why buildable vehicles aren't possible, but I assume it's because bricks are entities, or something, and entities cannot have vehicle physics, or maybe they cannot be welded together and move, I'm not sure. But I suddenly came up with a solution.

Maybe there could be some sort of vehicle editor. Sounds like a lot of work, implementing some kind of modeling system.

Heck, now that I mention that, there could even be like a gun editor, brick editor, etc.

But the only problem I can think of is other people downloading the datablocks. Maybe the vehicles can only be made before you start a server?

What do you mean about buildable vehicles?
Vehicles that are built on a plate, then able to be moved at the users discretion. I can see this with the new physics and collisions.
