If you have any trainer files, even inactive ones, you won't be able to join.  I just found this out and I'm making sure all of them are gone.

I think you also have to have the Steam version, because Rockstar is literally the worst game packaging company ever, but I'm not sure.

Steam doesn't handle patching, only GFWL does that.  Every copy of GTA4 has GFWL too, so everyone has the same version.

It's funny cause trainers are the biggest buzzkill.  Like woopee you can spawn whatever the forget you want but then there's nothing to do if you're just godmode enabled 24/7 and all you do is blow up cars.

in freeplay they're the greatest loving thing. Using props my friends and I made an arena and i spawned bad guys to shoot them in the arena and they got to survive and stuff
