Thinking of renting an MC server. Would appreciate feedback before investing.

Hey guys, I'm going to be renting a Minecraft server sometime this week, and I was just wondering if you guys have any recommended hosts, mods and such that I could find useful. I've been playing on a mod called Technic for the past few days with this girl I know, and it's been a blast. I've googled up Technic servers for rent, but I can't find anything. If anyone has any information about it, that'd be awesome.

Once the server is open, everybody is more than welcome to play, and I'll change the topic title / OP, but in the mean time, I'd just like to have the above questions answered.

The technic mod for multiplayer is called Tekkit and you can get it here: http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit/

I played with a server with bukkit. it was no bueno. kept on crashing and having issues with it. hosted one with it too. did nothing but cause issues. I'm trying to avoid bukkit as much as possible.

Ah okay. I'm just a lazy ass and was more rather looking for a host that'll automatically install Technic for me. :D

no this is a fairly decent point. although, on the other hand, if you have experience using tekkit you should use it

That's usually where I stand when it comes to MC, but Technic is pretty cool. Doesn't change much except for adding a ton of blocks and customization. I actually hated minecraft for a while (have had it since closed beta) because of th handicapped mods.

Well, I don't feel like hosting it out of my own home, especially considering I just sold my more powerful server rack.

I think you misunderstand the concept of paying for a server.
Server hosting is for people who don't have good enough internet, want to have a dedicated server, or just don't want to host out of their home for whatever reason.

I imagine your MC server is really stuffty in terms of lag and stuff.

IMO, Minecraft multiplayer gets really boring without something new to do. Invasion mod allows you to have the option to have tons of mobs attack a single block thing. It's actually craftable and has both slower games and faster games.

at first it sounded bad, because I hate anarchy servers, but this whole prize thing makes it sound much less frustrating and pretty cool.
